I'm honestly surprised teams have not comeback from 0-3 except for 1 time in American sports history.

Something like 1 out of 150ish between baseball, basketball, and hockey.

It should be much higher then that.

Its only a 4 game winning streak. Which is something that all playoff teams have done many times during each year these teams get down 0-3.


I think the variance is way on the wrong end of the scale on that statistic and you are going to start seeing some teams in the near future start coming back from 0-3.

It might as well start this week.

I honestly think it's almost got to the point where teams just mentally give up when they get down 0-3 because they have been told so many times it can't be done.

It makes perfect sense that the Red Sox were the only team that did it because their motivation was probably not to comeback from the series with their comeback .

They probably just wanted to delay the gruesome bashing that they knew they were probably going to receive from the media and the fans after losing to the Yankees.

They were probably just playing for the right to live one more day without ever having to hear that they are lifetime losers.
So all the talk about not being able to comeback from 0-3 really did not matter to them.

They just wanted to win 1 game so they could avoid the tremendous backlash they were about to receive for losing yet again to the Yankees.

So they won game 4 just to have 1 extra day of piece.
Then they won game 5 to buy them another day of not having to deal with it.
Before they noticed it was 3-2 then 3-3 and then all of a sudden there they were becoming the first team in American sports history to comeback from 0-3

As you all know, the Cubs and Mets are facing off tonight for a chance to go to the World Series. With a Mets victory, they'll sweep the series—but this morning, we discovered the good luck charm that just might give the Chicago-based team a much-needed shot of adrenaline.
Back in 2005, we created a piece called "Uniform Appeal," where some of our favorite girls of all time were body-painted in iconic jerseys. Among those was the one and only Anne V decorated in those famous pinstripes, like you've never seen them before.

We don't know if the Cubs can come back from a 0-3 deficit, but we're pretty sure seeing Anne V in nothing but Cubs-themed body paint will have the team walking away feeling victorious regardless of tonight's outcome.

2004 ALCS was absolutely THE SINGLE GREATEST COMEBACK in U.S. sports history. Can't be beat. Someday it might "somehow" be equaled, but it's NEVER going to be topped.

And that's why Red Sox fans sleep well nowadays regardless of how the team is doing now.

Yeah this is the main reason it doesn't happen more. Not like the Cavs are getting down 0-3 against the Bobcats.

If they can put up a W today, then Lester at home in game 5. If we can win that one, back to NY and we'd have Arrieta for game 6.

I think we could take it all the way back to a game 7, but would be at a considerable disadvantage with the pitching matchup in that game.

Not only were the Red Sox down 3-0 in games, they were down 4-3 in the 9th inning, with
a fresh Mariano Rivera on the mound for the Yankees.

the problem with the cubbies is the mets have too many aces on their pitching staff, even with lester and arrieta there is no soft spot in the mets rotation

i hope they make it a series bc ive loved watching this postseason but i dont think they can win 4 in a row vs this mets team. i wish them and their fans gl though

Ok my bad. I don't keep up with hockey just thought I heard it repeated over and over again that the red sox are the only team to comeback from 0-3 in American sports.

Maybe they are not considering hockey an American sport thus being able to accurately claim the Red Sox to the the only team to do it.


I understand your point about the better team normally being the team that gets out to the 3-0 lead for the NBA but I don't agree with you on baseball.

Sometimes the better team gets down 3-0 in baseball just because of the nature of the sport.

3 games is not near enough to assume the best team always gets up 3-0.


This series is a great example of that.
I don't think anyone can definitively say that the Mets are 100% superior to the Cubs.

It's possible they maybe 1 or 2% better but it's very close .

If you asked 100 educated baseball people who was the better team before the series started I bet at least 50 of those 100 would say the Cubs were the better team

The soft spot is tonight. After tonight we have 2 guys of our own that are capable of throwing a shutout on any given night.

Our problem is going to be holding them down tonight. Hammel blows.
