Creighton +14 over OKLAHOMA
2:00 PM EST. The Sooners are ranked #3 in the country. They come into this game with a 7-0 mark and they also have a signature win already when they absolutely destroyed Villanova, 78-55 as a 5-point dog. A week prior to defeating the Wildcats, OSU whacked Wisconsin by 17 as an 8½-point favorite. Thus far, five of the Sooners seven wins have been by 20 points or more. Yes indeed, these Sooners are flying high and the market has taken notice. When you play highly ranked teams, you pay a premium to do so. When that highly ranked team is steamrolling over the opposition, the premium you pay increases. The oddsmakers did not make a mistake when they listed Villanova as a 5-point favorite over the Sooners. It just happened that ‘Nova had a really bad game. OSU Coach, Lon Kruger has a very talented and experienced foursome to work with but things get a little bit shaky after that. Dinjiyl Walker and Khadeem Lattin are the only returning players who averaged double digit minutes last season. The Sooners lack depth. The backcourt lost their sixth man in Frank Booker. We’re not saying that the Sooners are weak but they are certainly not as good as six blowouts in seven games suggest. Today, against a formidable opponent, Oklahoma is giving away too many points and we’re always looking out for inflated points.
The Bluejays are 7-3 and lost by 21 points to then #21 Indiana in their third game of the year. Two years back, Creighton had a remarkable first season in the Big East, going 27-8 overall and 14-4 in league play. However, last season was different, as they lost four seniors and slipped to 14-19 overall and 4-14 in the league. They have fallen off the radar of market appeal, which makes us buyers. Last year wasn't as bad as people think. The Bluejays lost nine games by four or fewer points, including four by a point. Coach, Greg McDermott has continued to bring in more talent. Keep your eye on Mo Watson, Jr., a Boston University transfer, and Cole Huff, a Nevada transfer. The Bluejays have a 2-point loss against Arizona State but what matters to us more is that they were an 8½-point choice in that game. As a 5½-point favorite over Nebraska, Creighton won by 16. When teams play Creighton, they know they were in a battle. The Bluejays never give up with their work ethic being second to none in the country. That’s worth something and so is their extremely misleading record from a year ago. This is a veteran Creighton squad with seven of the top nine players in minutes played this season being juniors and seniors. Oklahoma has not broken a sweat yet but that’s all about to change, as Creighton is likely going to stay well within this range throughout. Pick: Creighton +14 -106 (Risking 2.12 units to win 2).
