Sykora Continues Streak: Petr Sykora scored his 19th goal of the season Wednesday @ Edmonton (power play)...he now has 12 power play goals on the season, ranking T-4th in the NHL....it is his highest PP goal total in a single season since a career-best 15 PP markers in 1998-99...with still 29 games remaining in the regular season, Sykora is the first Anaheim player other than Paul Kariya or Teemu Selanne to have as many as 12 PP goals in a single season....Kariya led the team last season with 11 PP goals...Sykora now has a seven-game point streak (4-7=11), his longest since a career-high 13-game streak from Mar. 13 - Apr. 6, 2001 with New Jersey (6-17=23).
Giguere Racking Up Victories: Ducks netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere is now 22-16-4 with six shutouts, a 2.42 goals-against average and .913 save percentage on the season...Giguere's 22 wins marks a career-high, just nine shy of the Ducks single-season club record (Guy Hebert had 31 in 1998-99)...Giguere has 15 wins (15-7-0) since Dec. 1, the second highest total in the NHL (behind only Martin Brodeur, 17)...Giguere is also tied for the NHL lead in shutouts (6) this season.
Quite A Turnaround Story In Anaheim: The Mighty Ducks enter tonight's game having posted the second largest improvement in the NHL compared to the same time a season ago...after 53 games the Ducks point differential stands at +18 in 2002-2003.
Ducks Red Hot on the Road: After a slow start away from home, Anaheim has been impressive on the road of late…the Ducks have won three of their last four road games (3-1-0-0) and five of their last seven away from home (5-2-0-0)...all seven of those road games have been one-goal affairs with under one minute remaining in regulation (ending in five 1-goal decisions and two 2-goal decisions with empty-netters)...the Ducks are 11-12-2-3 for 27 points on the road this season...Anaheim has never finished a season above .500 on the road, coming close once in 1993-94 (19-20-3)...the Ducks started the season 1-3-1-0 on the road, but have since gone 10-9-1-3 for 24 points in their last 23 road games.

Ozolinsh Makes Immediate Impact: On Jan. 30, the Ducks landed seven-time all-star Sandis Ozolinsh and Lance Ward from Florida in exchange for Matt Cullen, Pavel Trnka and a fourth round draft pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft...Ozolinsh made an immediate impact Feb. 4 @ Calgary in his Ducks debut, scoring the game-winner with 9:41 remaining in the third period…he also had an assist with a +1 rating, three shots and 20:26 TOI, second on the team behind Keith Carney's 22:56…Ozolinsh led Panthers' defensemen in all offensive statistical categories and ranks third among NHL defensemen in ice time (28:06)...he was voted a starter for the Eastern Conference in the 2003 NHL All-Star Game which took place Feb. 2 in Florida, his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance and seventh overall (sixth start)...a member of Colorado's 1996 Stanley Cup Championship team, Ozolinsh led all NHL defensemen in points (5-14=19) in 22 playoff games that season...since his first NHL season in 1992-93, Ozolinsh trails only Al MacInnis of St. Louis in goals by a defensemen with 149 (MacInnis has 164). Also among all defensemen since his rookie season, Ozolinsh ranks ninth in assists, seventh in points, sixth in power play goals, eighth in power play assists, and seventh in power play points. During that same span, he ranks second in playoff goals (21) as well as third in playoff assists (61) and points (82) among defensemen.
A Memorable Month: With seven victories the Ducks tied a club mark for most January wins 7-4-1-1 (equal to 7-5-1-0 in Jan. 1997) and broke the club mark for January points with 16 (previous best was 15 pts. also in Jan. 1997)...Anaheim's winning percentage this January (.615) was fourth-best in the NHL's Western Conference (behind only Dallas, Edmonton and St. Louis)...the Ducks posted back-to-back seven win months (December record of 7-7-0-0) for the first time in franchise history...Anaheim has posted a record of .500 or better in each of the past three calendar months (5-2-3-3 in November).
