Back in the 90s I was "handicapping" the NFL and college football, just like everyone else. And like everyone else, I won some, lost some.
But over years I got to know people, who knew people, who knew people...
Which eventually led to (indirect) access to high rollers in Vegas "distributing" plays. And whadaya know, they won...and won...and won some. Most ended up as big line moves.
Being the analytical inquisitive type I am who has to absolutely know how EVERYTHING works trying to "reverse engineer" these games (just in case my sources would one day dry up), I asked them about methodology... how/who/where/when...but was politely rebuffed and told not to ask those type of questions. Okay. LOL
I never did figure them out, but from what I could tell, none of the games were Billy Walters/Computer Group.
Do I know for certain first hand those games were RIGGED? No, but...
At one point, I had a Dutch guy feeding me lower league Euro soccer, which were absolutely 100% RIGGED, also hitting insane win rates. So many ref/player betting scandals exposed in Europe over the years...
Honestly, if you're going to bet the NFL, or any of the main "spread" sports, stick with moneylines because point shaving is more common than you think.

It's not bitching at all, it's INFORMING... not because I or anyone are "sore losers" from a particular "bad beat" last weekend...
But because it IS happening.
I empathize with people who unknowingly get totally screwed in these games. Even somewhat 'honest' situations, like not knowing a few players were coming off a bender or an emotionally messed up QB...that sorta inside stuff.
No amount of handicapping, number crunching and analysis can overcome inside information.
It's just a reality check for anyone betting real money on what the NFL legally defines as "sports entertainment."
