Jason Kidd re-signed with the New Jersey Nets on Thursday, returning to the team he helped rescue from the bottom of the standings and led to two straight NBA Finals appearances.
The contract is for six years and $103 million, Nets president and general manager Rod Thorn said.
The point guard was considered the biggest catch in this year's free agent market and was heavily recruited by San Antonio, which beat New Jersey to win this year's title.

As a Nets fan I'm thrilled BUT... It seems as if Alonzo Mourning was used as a bargaining chip. if there were no salary cap , I wouldn't care but they paid Zo like $22M over 4 years - WAY over market value for him. I see Zo being the NBA's Mo Vaughn : An old, injured ex-great who will drag his team down . But he'll also hurt the team cap-wise. If Zo CAN'T play and its obvious Byron Scott has no faith in Motumbo, then what ??? They can't keep both Jason Collins and Arron Williams on the roster too. Any thoughts anyone ???

I don't know about Zo having no impact in the big-men depleated east (maybe he was scared of the west?). The salary cap room that he takes up does hurt them, it all depends on how much Rob Thorn is willing to pay. After they don't make the finals again this year look for a lot of finger pointing to happen towards Byron Scott.
