Bill Belichick's 2024 head coaching prospects might well have concluded on Thursday afternoon with news of Raheem Morris' expected hiring as the next Atlanta Falcons head coach.
There is no indication Belichick is in the running for the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders openings, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported.
The Seahawks and Commanders stand as the last two openings in a hiring cycle that began with eight vacancies.
Belichick, who parted ways with the New England Patriots following 24 seasons to create one of those openings, interviewed twice with the Falcons, but has received no other interview requests.

Where would he want to go?

He needs to do exactly what Tom Brady did - go to a stacked team that just needs better coaching to get them over the top.

Wait 'till next year.

I think the bloom is off that rose. Belichick has a career losing record without Brady. Add to that, Hes about the same age as Pete Carroll, who was kicked upstairs because his age impacted his interactions with players. And PC, at least seemed to be easier to relate to.

I think BB wants to coach mostly to catch Shula (328). (26 wins away). And his less than pristine decisions, e.g., putting a DC in charge of the offense, his draft and free agent hires, especially on offense. No debate on defensive acumen. Then theres his insistence on handling drafts, which many thought would be part of any upcoming deal.

So it looks like golf and fishing, for BB. 26 wins, = probably 3 years. If hired, would he recreate NE's record after Brady left.
Will his post Brady record, bring to mind losing career record without Brady? Should he have retired when Brady left?
Would his reputation be better with 3 more yrs of losing, hoping to get to 329, or leaving with Brady 302 wins, but the playoff, sb appearances, wins. At least then having a claim to goat status.

Belichick is out of HC opportunities this year. He probably got too cute and picky in his interviews with Atlanta.

There are a lot of reasons why teams are NOT interested in Belichick.

He might be finished.

I don't think its an exaggeration to say the game has passed him by. They used to say "defenses win championships." Todays its a top tier qb + ensemble, and a creative offensive minded coach.

BOL all.

Pretty bad when Atlanta doesn't want you. I can't stand the MTh FKR. I don't care if he won 10 SB's, he has always been a miserable prick even away from the game.

  • YEP and a lot of players hated him. Repeat, a LOT of players....
  • His track record was aided by stealing playbooks and bugging lockerrooms for a long time.
  • Losing Brady hurt him too, of course.
  • He is 72 or whatever, getting old.
  • Is the fire still in his belly or does he just want to win 15 more games to be the all time leader?
Get a younger, talented, ambitious up and comer that wants to win and establish himself as a head coach.

What team wants the commotion of his presence at this point? It would be a circus.

I had no idea he was that close in wins. Some idiotic GM will hire him to get the pub for most wins.
We know he's an egomaniac like his BFF Saban...

Can't win shit without Brady and the refs! Teams have gotten wise to hide their playbooks.

Refs too aided Belicheat! Every single Super Bowl Brady won his team had way less penalties! Kept hearing the same excuse Belicheat great coach, well it happen with Arians vs Reid too! And it's proven over and over again Belicheat can't win shit without a great QB and cheating! That's why no team wants him!

They did want him but he turned them off. Blanks and co. came to their senses that this guy has a losing record without Brady and has no concept of drafting and roster build-ups.

Belichick with Brady wins 77.4%

Bellichick without Brady wins 45.2%

Grouchy, questionable talent assessor, extreme hubris = putting Matt Patricia in as OC.
Its an offensively oriented league. Reed, Harbaugh....Campbell, Shanahan.
Young players today, won't tolerate BB's bs.
Oh and theres always Bills saying "he only wants to coach players he likes, or wants to coach."

He'll be unemployed after Wash and Sea hc positions are filled.

I will always remember Blanks roaming the sideline in the 3rd Q of the SB with the huge lead that they had in the 3rd Q.
Until Shanahan called the worst 2nd half in the history of the game. Cost me a fkn fortune including a 3K pool.
I still don't trust him even this season. He has called some bizzare shit in the 4th quarters this year and blamed it on Purdy.
Just tread lightly around him. Good luck...

Belichick is still the standard and teams would love to have him. I believe that the hurdle is the control he wants and the money a team would have to pay for a 2 or 3 year window to win a championship.

Is it a gamble teams want to make? Current market is saying NO!

Belichick may need to walk away and be content with his HOF coaching career.

Called the worst last 10 minutes of the Super Bowl too! Up 10 SF averaging 6.8 yards a pop on the ground and starts passing the ball!
