X,

Anything that is scalpable against a local would be a play in my book. I wouldn't be chasing every 1/2 point difference so use the "scalp" rule as a guideline.

Blue,

I personally would NEVER match another casino against Pinnacle's or Olympic's lines...I still say you lose long run, but I don't have the dataon that...just an opinion.

as soon as i am able, here's what i plan on doing:

funding pinnacle and comparing the lines at pinny and oly. using my previous example...if oly has the knicks -5 -110 and pinny has the knicks -5 +102 (10 minutes before gametime)...i will take the knicks at pinny.

Maybe I'm naive, but I think it's all automated. The only leans that I believe they have are when the line opens, like the Illini 2nd half line last night. As far as line movement, I usually move the line 1 cent with a $100 bet, and about 5 cents with a $500 bet. So I believe that they start with a line, and then the computer moves it on action....

Maybe I'm naive too but I've also always suggested the move was automated, except when big money comes in the line goes OTB a minute or two while a linesman checks and resets the line.

Interesting about moving the line with overnight bets. One would expect the line to be more volatile, since the betting pool is small, and that it will become progressively harder to move. I made a $250 bet recently around 2 am EST on an NBA total and then saw a 2 cent move. I didn't think it was due to me, but maybe it was? This was on a $1000 limit line.

I agree omT. IMO Pinnacle line moves for the most part are nothing more than an attempt to balance their action.

Exactly!!! It was hilarious when people here were determining the outcome of the election by pinny's line movement. It was nothing more than them balancing their action.

That has always been my experience. Put in a $50 bet, and it won't move. But $100 will move it a cent, $200 2 cents, etc. Pretty obvious that it works that way on overnights.

even more support to my theory. if the line move is just pinny balancing their action then, isn't there huge value in knicks -5 +102 when everyone else has knick -5 -110?

Well here is the first one suggested by Blue.

Everywhere has a flat Indy -12 against charlotte.

However Pinnacle has charlotte +12 +100, indy -12 -110

I interpret it means Pinnacle is backing indy -12.

Blue suggests taking charlotte +12 +100 is a good move.

On my limited experience of keeping track of results like this over the past 3 months or so, this seems like the wrong approach and that going along with betting indy -12 is the correct play. Well at least more than 50% of the time it is the winner in other words.

pinny has been hanging a -1 (-107 to -111) on north carolina for the past three hours. the rest of the world has -1.5 -110.
