Last Note:
In games with Georgia vs Michigan and Cincinnati vs Alabama, some interesting stats are un-noticed.
I look at several factors when we get to bowls that arent completely validated until those teams have played their bowl game.
When we have 4 teams that are playing against the highest ranked teams possible according to this Playoff scenario, we can see a bit clearer on those matches after, they are played.
Georgia played the far better team against Michigan.. Cincinnati played one top team in Notre Dame and won the game on 3 turnovers.
If given a rematch, Notre Dame would beat Cincinnati IMO.
In addition - I do know that Cincinnati would also never have beaten Ohio State or Michigan either.
Given that point, I believe that Notre Dame or Ohio State would have been far more Challenging for Alabama than what the Bearcats brought to the table to that game.
Georgia in the other game, was dominant over Michigan. I also felt that if Ohio State would have beat Michigan in the season final, I would have still bet Georgia for sure against the Buckeyes.
Also - If Ohio State and Michigan were the opponent for Alabama instead of Cincinnati, the line would have never gone past 4 points against either team.
Looking at the lines for both Cincy and Michigan there was a separation of 7 points. against the Number #1 Alabama and the #3 Georgia.
Georgia gave Alabama 6 points in the Championship game. Then they gave Michigan one more point (7) in the playoff game. Just about the same line.
I also believe that Ohio State and Michigan would have given at least 10 points in any game between them and the Bearcats.
Notre Dame Ranked #5 was one of the lowest scoring teams in the bowls against Bowlers. If they would have played clean game, they would have held Cincy to under 20 points. Precisely what Alabama did in a 27-6 win.
Public perception of raked teams is alway misleading IMO.
In fact - if any of the teams in the final 4 had two losses, they would likely have only one team still a the top.
My Guess is Georgia.
Michigan would have fallen to 6 or 7. Cincinnati would never make the top 14., and Bama would have likely still held on for 4th or 5th because of Historically being a great team.
Teams like Ok State and Baylor may have been up in the top 4 with at least Ohio State or Michigan right behind them
Bottom line - these are only my personal reasons based on stats and other teams that were ranked in which teams like Cincy played only 2 ranked teams.
Lets hope that Georgia plays with aggressive revenge and does to Alabama what they should do.
