— Army-Navy game is Saturday afternoon. The last 16 Army-Navy games stayed under the total, an impressive streak of low-scoring games.
Total on this year’s game is 32.5; neither team throws the ball much.
— Biggest pointspread in a bowl this year: UAB is -11.5 over Miami OH in the Bahamas Bowl.
— Last year, Liam Coen was offensive coordinator at Kentucky when the Wildcats went 10-3, beating Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. After the season, Coen moved to the NFL, he is offensive coordinator for the Rams this year, but next year, he’s going back to his old job at Kentucky.
— As of Friday afternoon, there were 69 quarterbacks in the college football transfer portal; there are only 130 I-A teams. Everyone who isn’t starting is looking for a school where he can start. Very little patience in the world these days; strange world we live in.
— There is a Division III college basketball team, Grinnell College in Iowa. The other night, Grinnell won a game 124-67; they took 111 shots, all of them 3-pointers!!!

— Before Thursday night’s comeback by the Rams, NFL teams were 70-2 this season when leading by 13+ points in the last 5:00 of a game. Now they’re 70-3.

“The expectation doesn’t match the talent level, or at least not yet, and that’s where it gets messy.’’ That is the evaluation of one unnamed college coach.
It’ll be interesting to follow; watching the docuseries on the Sierra Canyon team that Bronny plays for, it is clear that he is a good kid, an unselfish player. Sometimes having a famous dad creates unrealistic expectations; we’ll see how this plays out.

The kid is a senior in high school; he is 6-3, a top 100 college recruit, will almost definitely be in the 2024 NBA Draft, where he will likely play on the same team as his dad in 2024-25. Where his career goes from there remains to be seen.

It’ll be interesting to follow; watching the docuseries on the Sierra Canyon team that Bronny plays for, it is clear that he is a good kid, an unselfish player. Sometimes having a famous dad creates unrealistic expectations; we’ll see how this plays out.
