Dec. 10

Virginia Tech: Louisville assistant Stu Holt has been hired as Virginia tech's special teams coordinator and offensive assistant.

Oklahoma: Brent Venables announced his first two assistant coaching hires Friday, naming Jeff Lebby as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Ted Roof as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Venables is retaining Cale Gundy, Bill Bedenbaugh, DeMarco Murray and Joe Jon Finley as well.

Oregon: Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning is expected to be announced Monday as Oregon's head coach, reports Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, but sources tell 247Sports' Matt Prehm the report is inaccurate. Stay tuned.

Duke: Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko is now the leading candidate at Duke, reports Carl Reed of 247Sports. We reported earlier this week Tony Elliott and Elko had emerged as the top targets, and now with Elliott heading to Virginia, Elko rising to the top makes sense.

BYU: BYU coach Kalani Sitake has signed a new "unprecedented" contract to remain at BYU through the 2027 season, the school announced. He was briefly pursued by Oregon following a 10-2 season that included five wins against Pac-12 teams.

Ohio State: Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles signed a three-year contract worth $1.9 million per year at Ohio State. He was reportedly offered a five-year deal worth $1.3 million annually to remain at Oklahoma State.

Virginia: Virginia has hired Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott to lead the program.

Louisiana Tech: Louisiana Tech is adding Stephen F. Austin assistants Marcus Walker and Nathan Young to coach the cornerbacks and offensive line, respectively, and TCU assistant Dan Sharp has been hired as special teams coach, reports Chris Vannini of The Athletic. Running backs coach Brock Hays and outside linebackers coach Anthony Camp will remain at the school.

Dec. 9

SMU: Former Oklahoma defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux is headed to SMU in the same position, a source tells 247Sports.

Syracuse: Coaching veteran Bob Ligashesky has been hired as Syracuse's special teams coordinator

Oregon: Oregon has asked for permission to speak to UCLA coach Chip Kelly, reports The Oregonian's John Canzano, who cites an unidentified source at the University of Oregon.

Virginia: Virginia's discussions with Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott have hit a snag, reports Richard Johnson of Sports Illustrated. Elliott traveled Wednesday to Charlottesville, where he met with athletics director Carla Williams. That's quite the development in the Cavaliers' search to replace Bronco Mendenhall. Negotiations with Penn State co-defensive coordinator Anthony Poindexter crumbled earlier this week in Las Vegas, where Williams meet with the former Virginia star before he was inducted Tuesday into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Indiana: Former UMass head coach Walt Bell was officially introduced as Indiana's offensive coordinator.

Auburn/Arizona State: Offensive coordinator Zak Hill is staying at Arizona State. He informed those close to him Thursday he will remain with the Sun Devils after Auburn pursued him for the same position.

Dec. 8

Florida: LSU cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond has been hired at Florida, where he will be assistant head coach for defense and cornerbacks coach on Billy Napier's staff.

LSU: Notre Dame special teams coordinator Brian Polian will follow Brian Kelly to LSU to be the Tigers' special teams coordinator, the school announced Wednesday.

LSU/Texas A&M: LSU was ready to offer Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher an eight-year contract worth $13 million per year, which would have been the largest contract in college athletics history, sources tell 247Sports. The news was first reported by Brett McMurphy of The Action Network. LSU athletics director Scott Woodward pursued Fisher for most of November but discussions were mostly one-sided.

Florida State: Randy Shannon is working on a deal to be Florida State’s linebackers coach. It should be finalized soon. He worked in off-field capacity as an analyst for the Seminoles this season.

Duke: With Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott now the top target at Virginia, Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko will be the name to watch at Duke.

SMU: Miami offensive line coach Garin Justice is the top target and is expected to be hired as SMU’s offensive line coach, sources tell 247Sports. Texas Southern running backs coach Khenon Hall has been hired as an assistant at SMU. He has strong recruiting ties in south Dallas.

Texas Tech: Oregon defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter and safeties coach Marcel Yates is headed to Texas Tech to lead Joey McGuire's defense, according to multiple reports.

LSU/Texas A&M: LSU heavily pursued Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher before landing Brian Kelly, reports Brett McMurphy of The Action Network. LSU was prepared to give Fisher an eight-year contract worth $13 million per season.

Nebraska: Now we know why Mark Whipple resigned Tuesday at Pitt. The offensive coordinator has been hired at Nebraska, the school announced today. Scott Frost has also added Chicago Bears assistant offensive line coach Donovan Raiola as offensive line coach.

Oklahoma: Ole Miss offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby is expected to accept the same position on Brent Venables' staff at Oklahoma, reports Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports. Lebby is an Oklahoma alum.

Dec. 7

Texas Tech: Texas Tech has announced Stephen Hamby as offensive line coach, Josh Cochran as tight ends coach and Kirk Bryant as a senior offensive analyst.

Clemson: Senior defensive assistant Wes Goodwin is a strong candidate to be elevated to a coordinator/co-coordinator role to replace defensive coordinator Brent Venables, reports Chris Low of ESPN.

Ohio State: The deal is done. Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles will begin work Jan. 2 as Ohio State's defensive coordinator.

Ohio State: Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles' name continues to gain steam at Ohio State. Knowles directed the nation's second-best defense this season, and Cowboys coach Mike Gundy has attempted to drum up support from his administration to offer him a bigger contract.

Virginia Tech: Florida State linebackers coach Chris Marve has been hired as Virginia Tech's defensive coordinator.

Colorado State: Nevada offensive line coach Bill Best is following Jay Norvell to Colorado State to coach the Rams' offensive line, a source tells 247Sports.

Virginia: Anthony Poindexter's camp is doing its due diligence examining the plusses and minuses of the Virginia job. The Penn State co-defensive coordinator and former Virginia superstar appears to be the top candidate, as reported by multiple outlets. Both Poindexter and Virginia athletics director Carla Williams are in Las Vegas this week for Poindexter's induction into the College Football Hall of Fame and have reportedly met to discuss the job left vacant by Bronco Mendenhall, who resigned unexpectedly last week.

LSU: McNeese State head coach Frank Wilson resigned this morning to become LSU's associate head coach. It's an incredible move for the Tigers. Wilson is a big-time recruiter in the state of Louisiana and previously worked for the Tigers.

Texas Tech: Kansas receivers coach Emmett Jones has been hired to the same position at Texas Tech.

Kansas: Kansas is hiring Syracuse receivers coach Terrence Samuel.

Georgia Southern: Western Kentucky co-offensive coordinator Bryan Ellis has been hired at Georgia Southern as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, reports Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports.

Indiana: Former UMass head coach Walt Bell, who was fired in November, is joining Tom Allen's staff as Indiana's offensive coordinator, reports Adam Rittenberg.

Texas Tech: The long gestating rumor in Texas is true. Western Kentucky offensive coordinator Zach Kittley has been hired as Texas Tech's offensive coordinator, a source tells 247Sports.

Dec. 5

Louisiana: Ragin' Cajuns assistant Michael Desormeaux has been promoted to head coach.

Arkansas: Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman has changed agents and is now represented by super agent Jimmy Sexton, reports the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, which cites multiple anonymous sources.

Oklahoma: Sooners assistant Roy Manning has been removed from the Sooners' coaching directory. Rumors have swirled he was illegally recruiting for USC while working for OU earlier this week.

Joe Brady: The Carolina Panthers have fired offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Brady became a superstar in 2019 when he coordinated LSU's offense with quarterback Joe Burrow to a national championship. Expect to see Brady's name come up often in coordinator searches across college football.

Washington State: USC offensive line coach Clay McGuire has accepted the same position at Washington State, reports Adam Rittenberg of ESPN. Incarnate Word head coach Eric Morris is also on board as offensive coordinator, reports Football Scoop.

Florida: Louisiana defensive coordinator Patrick Toney and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke are following Billy Napier to Florida, reports Football Scoop. Their titles have not yet been finalized.

Georgia Tech: Tulane offensive coordinator Chip Long has been hired in the same position at Georgia Tech, reports Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports.

ULM: Matt Kubik, who coached ULM's offense from 2016 through 2019, is returning to Monroe to replace Rich Rodriguez as offensive coordinator, reports Football Scoop. He was a high school coach this season.

Dec. 4

Georgia Southern: Western Kentucky receivers coach Bryan Ellis has been hired as offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern, reports Football Scoop.

Akron: Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead was officially announced as Akron's head coach today.

Dec. 3

Southern Cal: Mississippi State inside receivers coach Dave Nichol has accepted a position on Lincoln Riley's staff at Southern Cal, reports Gene's Page on 247Sports.

Auburn: Arizona State offensive coordinator Zak Hill is the big name to watch as Auburn eyes a coordinator to replace Mike Bobo, a source tells 247Sports.

Oregon: Oregon is set to offer Mario Cristobal an "aggressive" new contract as rumors swirl about the Miami job, which is still occupied by Manny Diaz, reports The Oregonian. Cristobal's salary for the 2021 season is $4.3 million and word is the new contract would be in the neighborhood of the nearly $10 million yearly salaries awarded Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly this week. Cristobal would owe Oregon $9 million if he leaves the school for another job before Jan. 14, 2022.

Nebraska: Nebraska has hired LSU receivers coach Mickey Joseph to the same position on Scott Frost's staff.

Notre Dame: Marcus Freeman is officially the head coach at Notre Dame. The news was revealed Friday morning to the team by strength coach Matt Balis, and it was captured on video.
