This is MMA anything can happen and often times it does, I'm going with the strategy of betting any underdog that is getting greater than 4 to 1 odds.

Not liking this one. Yvel simply loses against wrestlers and submission guys; Barnett is both.

MMA is still such an evolving sport that while I realize Yvel is not likely to beat Barnett, at those odds I have to give it a chance.

It's part of my greater MMA strategy to go with fighters that have at least a puncher's chance or submission chance to get over +400.

Fights where I really don't believe the underdog has any chance I will just abstain, like Andrei gets +360 for, but I'll stay away.

Just my opinion, but i have found that it is actually the favorites in mma that seem to be undervalued. Upsets are more likely to occur than in boxing and their are more ways to lose i fight, but you just dont see the
-1000, -1500 that you get in boxing. There are many up and comers that are fed overmatched opponets even in the big shows such as the ufc. I feel like -400 is a huge line in an mma fight, when in actuality the odds should be giving the fighter a 95% chance and up, not 80%.

MMA is the only sport that i have consistently played larged favorites and won over the last few years.
However, would be interested to see how your strategy of playing +400 dogs works if you are gonna keep posting it.

hi terpkeg,

I think you are right about slight favorites, i.e. guys that are -160 or less, for example GSP is -160 over BJ Penn. I think these two guys are awesome fighters and are two of my favourites, and either one can win. But if you look at it objectively GSP has almost all the advantages and has improved more than BJ since their last fight. Having said all that I'm still reluctant to bet on that fight.

There have been some ridiculous odds that I have played and cashed in on before:

Sokodju was a 16 to 1 underdog to Little Nogueira
Serra was a 9 to 1 underdog to GSP in their first fight
Gonzaga was a 5 to 1 underdog to Crocop
Frankie Edgar was 6 to 1 underdog to Tyson Griffin

These are just the ones that I have played and won, I'm actually going to keep track of it now to see how it tests out.

I'll be interested to see how this plays out as well. I think Arlovski has a better chance of beating Fedor than Yvel does at beating Barnett but we'll find out tomorrow night.

I've made a ton of cash betting on underdogs in MMA but I just don't see this one happening. Best of luck to you though.

I'm not betting Arlovksi; I got Fedor in a couple parlays. I'm just saying if I had to choose between Arlovski beating Fedor and Yvel beating Barnett, I'd go with Arlovski.

Looks like this is a work in progress, on to the next fight, searching for the next +400 bet
