One problem, rams never scored a touchdown in that game, final was 30-3.

leon lett, when touched the ball after miami missed a field goal on thanksgiving day, gave miami another shot at a field goal and cost me 8 dimes :cry4:

I was there and the game cost me 2 dimes. LOL

Dallas was -8 1/2 I believe so Lett didn't change the outcome. I love him just the same cause I hit that Boys/Bills Superbowl box pool cause of him. :103631605

Largest play I ever made was on the 49ers (-7) over the Rams in the NFC Conference Championship in January 1990. Made the play at Caesers Palace in Las Vegas right after the the Divisional Round was completed the Sunday before the game. The clerk took a double take when I said how much I wanted to lay down and called the book manager. They had to call upstairs to get clearance to take the play. They then took the entire board down for all games. Meaning the entire big board was black while they took the bet. Once taken, they posted it back up at 49ers (-8).

Waited a week for the game only to see the Rams get off to an early lead 7-0 and then looked to be getting ready to take a 14-0 lead with a deep pass to a wide open receiver only to see Ronnie Lott come out of nowhere to tip the ball away and thwart the touchdown. After that play, it was all 49ers, as they rolled to a 30-7 win and in to the Superbowl.

When I went to the cage to cash, the clerk didn't have enough money in the drawer and had to go to the strong box to get the money. I asked that a guard escort me to the parking garage and was looking around at all angles until I reached my car and then continued to drive decoy routes until I got safely home. Next day, the money went in the bank. In hindsight, should have asked for a check, but didn't want any history trail. I miss the good old days sometimes, but not often.

Ted, you need to finish the story. You know, how you pissed it all away on booze and women...

Wil,
Can you at least pick a legal play?

The most memorable was watching that choke artist Norwide start the curse.

Just went to www.nfl.com and according to the records shown, you are correct. I was writing from memory and would have sworn that the Rams took the early lead 7-0 and not 3-0. But, definitely remember Ronnie Lott breaking up what looked to be a sure touchdown pass to a wide open receiver. What I really remember was mentally adding the spread early and thinking just how much the 49ers would have to overcome.

Actually the story still continues too this date as I still use the same wallet and carry each and every one of the 5 dime money bands that were wrapped around each stack of 100 dollar bills. Can you imagine that. My wife keeps buying me new wallets for Christmas and I can't part with this one. Now going on 15 years. Quirky.

Either Bart Starr on the sneak in the ice game or Franco Harris catching the deflected pass vs. the Raiders.

The Cal/Stanford multi-lateral-band-on-the-field play certainly ranks up there.

being a lifelong charger fan i have many. but near the end of the fouts years i remember a bolt RB named gary anderson who must have leaped 7 feet straight up in the air and over 2 dolphin defenders in the endzone. ive seen photos since but i have no clue how to find it.~RG

i have been a Broncos' fan since the 1st SB appearance in the last 1970s. this means i have suffered thru 4 SB losses - all of them ugly

come SB 32 - and denver is about a 2 TD dog to GB - and if they lose - they will be the 1st team to lose 5 SB's. i am cautiously optomistic even though GB is a huge fave.

i watch the game by myself since i am so "into" the game and nervous.

denver has the ball 3rd and about 4 at the GB 12. elway drops back to pass - and when he can't find anyone - takes off running for the 1st down. he is short of it when he takes into the air. i know we have all seen the play - but elway gets "helicoptered" by 3 packers. he comes down at the 4 - and denver has the 1st down.

AT THAT POINT - i knew "we" were going to win the Super Bowl - and EVERY Broncos' player said the same thing - if Elway was willing to do that to get the SB win - the least the team could do was go out and win the game for Elway. i compare it to Kirk Gibson in the 1988 world series. even though it was only G1 - when gibson hit that HR to win G1 - the world series WAS OVER! The A's were dead and the Dodgers were WS winners. they played 4 more games to make it official - but there was no need to do so - for once gibson's ball left the park - the A's chances of winning the WS went with it.

but - later in that SB - denver leads 31-24. gb has 4th down with 30 seconds left.

in a play i will NEVER forget - brett favre throws a pass across the middle to Mark Chmura to try and get the 1st down - but John Mobley knocks it down harmlessly to the ground.

when the ball hit the ground i EXPLODED in glee (almost as much as the entire Broncos' organization and Broncos' fans everywhere) and started jumping up and down on my parent's hard wood floors with my bare feet (and did some damage to my ankle - not that i cared) for FINALLY

MY Denver Broncos were SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!

i will NEVER forget Mobley knocking down this pass. in Broncos' history there are several memorable plays: The TD pass on "The Drive" and Earnest Byner and "The Fumble" but for me - when Elway got "helicoptered" and instantly got up - GAME OVER and the ONE play i will NEVER forget!

Ted, great story. Now you've really got me curious as to how much you actually put on the game.

well i was in the 7th grade . i was playing my first year of tackle football.

the coaches son was the tailback ofcourse, but he twisted his ankle on one play and the coach put me in there.

i took the handoff at our 23 yard line and took it to the house.

77 yard td run.

coaches son felt better and i never touched the ball again that year. ended up playing safety most of the year.

that move by the coach probably cost me a shot at a potential heisman trophy.

is that what you were looking for J MAN .. cause thats my most memorable football play.

The tuck, the kick, and the kick.

What some of you Raider whiners don't remember or care to, is that the tuck went against the Pats in a loss to the Jets that year...we all heard of the rule way before the rest of the country.

Big difference, wasn't a playoff game and didn't decide the outcome.:nono5:
