dmmd98 - Not to lack respect to your answer, but it's possible.

----------------------------------

Panada - Yes you can. You'll need an adaptor (2.5 to 3.5). Not expensive $2.00 - $3.00 and they work like a charm.

What is the problem that you're having maybe I can give you a helping hand.

Good luck.

Most likely not true DMMD.....if you send your laptop sailing, you'll almost certainly kill the hard drive.

what kind of cable is needed to transfer files from my desktop to laptop or vice versa? Will a USB cable do the trick?

Panada,

Do you want to back your personal data or the whole drive (clone)?

#cheater#,

That is correct. For internal, he would have to use the following cable and power. One drive a master and the other a slave (set jumper in rear of drive).

If the desktop and laptop have NIC (Network) Cards, I would use a crossover cable. In this case, you would have to share the folder and give permission to the other.
