Benitez is a loser , I`d like to see him on a bus back to wherever he came from...Dumbest pitcher, he cost Baltimore the World Series.......He can`t pitch in big games...Seattle will be reminded of Bobby Ayala very soon.......

I have absolutely no idea how Jeff Nelson is doing this year, but I would have given Benitez away for a sack of potatoes.

How many games has Benitez hung a slider instead of bring 100 mile an hour heat...The guy is braindead....He served up game winners to Grissom and Fernandez in the ALCS that single handedly cost the Orioles the World Series...He may be best remembered for drilling Tino, then running like a big pussy as Strawberry threw a running haymaker at his big watermelon head...

Jeff Nelson criticized the Mariners' front office last week after the team failed to make a deal at the trade deadline. The 36-year-old right-hander pitched for the Yankees from 1996-2000.

The Yankees acquired Benitez in a trade with the New York Mets on July 16.

The deal comes less than a week after the trade deadline, meaning both players had to clear waivers before being dealt.

Nelson was 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA and seven saves in 46 games for the Mariners.

After saving 21 games for the Mets this season, Benitez was 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA for the Yankees.

i thought nelson hated torre's guts for leaving him off the all star game a couple of years ago

While we're at it, let's trade

Ishtar for Heaven's Gate
Gigli for any Madonna movie
Titanic for Lusitania
Atari Vic 20 for Commodore Pet

With the exception of Smoltz and Gagne, all relievers are unreliable and not worth the money they are paid.

that both guys cleared waivers says a lot. Any other team could have claimed either one. Expect to see a bunch of these waiver deals before Aug. 31st.

Astro's Billy Wagner 33 saves in 36 attempts, not bad. Most teams would love to have him.

Both bums and no problem saying it. It's nice to see everyone agreeing on this about these two deadbeats. I do hope he can bring something to the table for the Yankees though (wishfull thinking

). Billy Wagner and any pitcher with a record like that, you've got to respect, IMO.

Benitez isn't going to close very much and that is why the M's said they would take him. Nelson's problem is that while he can be a nasty pitcher for many hitters in a row, he is unreliable if brought into face one hitter because in a tough spot he can be prone to giving up the crucial walk. That is why his ERA has always been good, he faces a couple of guys and either gets them out or gives up an inherited run or two but gets the outs before his own guys score. Didn't matter much both teams have loaded pens and this won't make or break either of them.

Good for both teams, Benetez should be good for the M's and gets the hell out of NY!
