Well, Living on Long Island and I have a Ton of Friends that Live in or Around Old Westbury ( Gold Coast area )= $$$$$$

I have seen some Very High Priced Birthday Cakes.

A few Months ago, a Friend of mine had a Birthday Party for his daugther
It was in the shaped of a Prada Handbag with a Pug ( dog ) Head sticking out of it. ( the Pug's head was on the cake because it's Her Dog )

Tell you this much, if you didn't know it was a Cake. You would have thought it was a Handbag. ( Minus the Dogs Head ) LOL


Another Friend had a Birthday party, and his Wife Bought him a Cake
It was a Replica of the Golf course he plays on ( Sandtraps included )
Was Pretty Neat.

So I guess it depends on what Area you are in. They would be willing to Pay Top $$
And I guess also if you are Talking about Cakes that I stated above
