Florida basically has drive-up sportsbooks..........and you get to take a 30 min boat ride to ponder your wagers.

I would love to open a sportsbook at Selmons.........business would be good.

No matter how easy it is now to make a bet online,I still love the idea of being able to walk up to a sportsbook window.

While nice amenitites, they come with high costs so they aren't competitively priced. If the virtual book could peacefully coexist with the walk up it would be nice, but typical American business practice is to go cry poverty to your lawmakers and law enforcers and get the competition shut down. As I always say on here, just be careful what you wish for.

we've got at least 4 networks of walk-in sportsbooks (one is even state owned), prices usually suck, limits are extremely low, no US college sports plus, in addition, 10% tax on winnings - nothing to wish for.
I think this is more costly business model so it would be hard to compete with offshore companies, not to mention that it has to be directed towards casual bettor

I would love it. But don't let the government run them. They'd turn into dumps like NYC OTB Parlors, although they have slightly improved over the last few years.

Never placed a bet outside of my computer. How does it work? Do they have a board with all lines and odds. Do you get a ticket like horseracing?

Vegas books can not compare to the british.. If i am not mistaken the british books dont have dumb crap like a 1k limit or even something more obsene like

$300 for totals on of all things NBA totals...I would understand college totals
but NBA? are you friggin kidding me?

Plus i was also under the impression that some brits actually have the option to place wagers using their set top tv boxes.

Vegas is totally totally sodomizes the sports betting experience and then they complain, bitch and whine like silly little girls when people take their money to off shores!!!!! DUH!!!!!

I know sports books dont earn Vegas that much (yes folks, when it comes to gambling, sports bettors dont even account for 5% of vegas profits.) but for crying out loud, if you aint gonna support something, then quit friggin buying senators left and right to shut down online betting!!! Because that shit makes no sense at all!!!!

It does make sense, they want you to spend all your money playing their games of choice. Things like 6/5 BJ, double zero roulette, and 95% payback video poker. Then the creme de la creme, penny and nickel slots that payback about 90%. In the old school world the laws could be the ally of lots of special interests, but in the new world order all these laws are a joke. Someone tell me, is there really a law out there that hasn't been made that should be, besides maybe those with moral overtones? I mean does Congress really think they have missed anything? Maybe a tweak here and there is needed, but its a joke to think we need 535 people making laws about 8 months of the year.

Couldn't agree with you more about Congress, WB, and I work there. Worst thing that ever happened was when they air conditioned the place. Up until the late 30s--even during the super active days of the Depression--Congress just wasn't in session that much. Air conditioning meant the House and Senate could stay pretty much the year round. So now we do lots of stupid stuff to jusitfy being there so much of the time. You also now have too many Reps and Senators who move their families to Washington, put their kids in school here, and start losing touch with those who elected them in the first place...
