Worst Franchise in the NFL: Oakland or Detroit?

These teams are miserable. They have sucked for years, have had some of the worst coaching, management, QB play etc. in years.

Jemarcus Russel and his 31 yard games? More penalty yards than yards on offense? Terrible ownership?


Is there an end in sight for these two crappy teams? I still say Oakland led by Jemarcus Russell are the worst franchise in the NFL. They just got rid of the hood rat thug Deangelo hall that wasted a 2nd round pick and 8 million bucks.

Right now? That's tough. Detroit has actually been in a few games lately while Oakland's performance against Atlanta was pathetic. I still think overall that Detroit has the sorriest franchise consistently over time.

Oakland, by FAR! They are an absolute disgrace, top to bottom. Detroit is still playing hard and has been competitive with limited talent. The Oakland performance last week may go down as the worst on field performance in the history of the NFL. They play with a total sense of apathy.

At least the Raiders had some glory years.
Having said that, they will be hard pressed to be an 8-8 team as long as Davis remains in control, he's a bona fide nut job, and his current team stinks to the high heavens.

Slight nod to the Lions, who have always stunk, and never had a season close to a glory year.

Detroit is the worst NFL fanchise, easily. They have been horrible for 1/2 decade. Oakland's had some success in the last 50 years.

Another "Gem" of a move by Al Davis who once upon a time was a real NFL maverick.

"The Detroit Lions Signing Daunte Culpepper & Possibly starting him on Sunday'.

Smells & Feels like a "Matt Millen" move. Did Detroit actually let go of one of the worst GM's ever in NFL?

I think i have to say its a tie. although both franchises are pretty bad but Oakland has better players and more talent on offense and defense but I think Detroit would beat them if they played each other this season.... Oakland has had some success but in the past 5 years they have sunken to the bottom.

Detroit has had some amazing draft picks busts like Oakland but just cant ever be a winning team....

when u have good players and a lot of talent but still lose then you are on of the worse franchises in the nfl

The Detroit Lions won ONE (1) playoff game with one of the greatest running backs ever (Barry Sanders) on their roster. That is VERY sad and should give Detroit the nod as worst NFL franchise.

Right now Detroit is a better franchise, because Millen was the one holding the Lions back and hes gone. Until the Raiders somehow get rid of Davis, I take the Lions.
