What a runaway victory for the Titans. Finally 2 teams played exactly as I thought they would. Very satisfying win for me, the first such this season. Here's to many more!
Pix POW now stands at 5-2. The rest of my plays aren't doing well, so I'll discontinue that, and try to stay the course with my best play.
DET is now down to Orlovsky at QB, Calvin Johnson as their #1 WR, and Kevin Smith getting back in the mix @ RB with Rudi. Some may say they're starting to gain stability after their 11 pt 4th Q vs HOU last wk. I say HOU just let their guard down, as they've done all season with a lead. One such team that doesn't do that is well-coached WAS. In their only 2 losses, WAS was down for most or all of the gm. As another example of their discipline, WAS QB's have combined for 332 regular season pass attempts w/out an INT, an NFL record. Campbell had 224 of those. Portis has carried the rock 163 times this season, and had only one fumble. Usually when big underdogs get unforeseen wins, it's due to TO's by the fav. Well, with those #'s, it doesn't look like this TD dog has much hope. Especially when DET's "D" is THE worst in the league, and have forced just a hair over 1 TO a game (1 INT, 6 FF). I loved TEN last wk mostly due to their great run "O" going against the worst run "D" in KC. Now we have the third best run "O" going up against the 2nd worst run "D". Not to mention the best RB in the league in Portis (5 rypc). That WAS oline is punishing, and that DET dline is soft. WAS's veteran oline is so good, I predict even Shaun Alexander will rush for at least 50 yds (since I believe Portis should be sitting by the 4th). As for WAS's "D", they are a bit banged up with Springs and DT Griffin out. But, Jason Taylor is expected to start, despite considering surgery next wk! If he does play, WAS could finally get sacks as that's been a sore spot on an otherwise hard working "D". But, all they have to gameplan for is Calvin Johnson and Kevin Smith. And believe it or not, DB Carlos Rogers has held his own against Braylon Edwards, Fitzgerald, and TO. Not bad, huh? WAS is 7th in run "D" giving up 86 rypg & only 3 rushing TD's, even with matchups vs great running teams in NYG, DAL, PHI & STL. Another great # for WAS is Portis leads the league with 43 1st downs. Gotta believe if WAS gets a lead (which they should, as DET hasn't had a lead except vs MIN) they will hold on, and more than likely add more pts as DET's dline gets exhausted. Great value at only 7 1/2 pts.
