That Andrew Luck almost made me pay last wk. However, his oline performed as expected, giving up pressure that led to 2 DEN “D” TDs. A fortunate cover for DEN backers for certain, but those key injuries & shuffled oline were major factors. HOU & Teaser covered w/ease while BAL & MIA looked embarrassing in their div matchups.
POW 1-0-1, Teasers 2-0, Overall 7-2-1.
PIT (-3 ½) would be the best team in the NFL rt now if it weren’t for Belicheat winning gms w/a broken toaster @ QB. Everyone knows PIT’s “O” is dominant, but it’s Tomlin’s “D” that’s making their rd to POs easier. Their young secondary is giving up yds in between the 20’s, but once they’re in the redzone or have 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] & shorts’, PIT’s been fantastic. That will be huge against rookie QB Wentz who has looked great so far. PHI fans should be excited for the future, but need to realize who they’ve faced. CLE & CHI aren’t very good teams to begin with, but throw in key injuries esp on “D” in both of those gms, & PHI had a huge advantage. PHI’s “D” is good, esp their front 7, but again they faced 2 bad “O”s that both lost their starting QBs. PIT is not just better, but light-years above both teams. They’ve scored TDs all 5 trips to the redzone & now get back Marcus Wheaton to complement an already loaded WR corps. DB Leodis McKelvin pulled his hamstring vs CHI & will not play. Jalen Mills replaced him & got beat deep several times. Not a good sign against the likes of Brown, Wheaton, Rogers & Coates. If PIT can contain Ryan Mathews this won’t be close. And the fact that PIT has the #1 “D” in redzone should mean not many TDs if PHI even gets there. Wentz is also long overdue to throw his 1[SUP]st[/SUP] INT. I’m not a big trends guy, but there are a bunch against PHI: PIT is 19-2 SU vs rookie QBs, 2-0-2 ATS on the rd, & 5-0 ATS in September; PHI is 1-8-1 ATS @ hm vs winning rd teams & 0-5 ATS following MNF.
