Dolphins looked terrible, but one thing about capping gms is the possibility of the dog coming out more motivated than the fav, can the better team withstand that? MIA overcame poor QB & LB play to pull out the cover thanks to Landry’s punt return TD. If MIA doesn’t shore their problems up, the AFC East is going to easily take advantage of those weaknesses. Then Bridgewater doomed my last play & teaser to prevent a perfect opening for the Worm. Wow, did he ever stink it up on primetime. For his sake, I hope he was just blinded by the bright lights of MNF.
POW 1-0, Teasers 0-1, Overall 4-2
ARI (-1 1/2) had a convincing win @ hm vs NOR to justify preseason picks of them finally taking the NFC West from SEA. Now they have a great chance to go up 2-0 on SEA as their div rivals have an extremely tuff gm @ revenge-minded GB. CHI kept it close vs GB last wk before succumbing to Rogers & co. GB dominated the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half, w/a last minute TD by Cutler making the score look more respectable. Cutler amazingly had only 1 INT as Forte’s big gm took some pressure off of him. He will have no such luxury vs ARI. GB’s “D” is still a work in progress, but ARI’s is in midseason form. Brees had big #s in ARI, but he & their run gm failed @ key pts of the gm. Peterson did great vs Brandin Cooks despite Brees going to him often. I predict the same success vs Jeffery, who is much slower & nursing a bad hammie. Forte will not be as big of a factor, forcing the gm into Cutler’s hands. I feel ARI’s talented secondary will pick him off at least twice, w/ARI’s dline applying consistent pressure. ARI’s bend but not break “D” will give up a bunch of FGs but mostly hold CHI out of the endzone. Andre Ellington will miss this gm, but he wasn’t a factor vs NOR anyway. Chris Johnson will get the bulk of the carries, but rookie David Johnson may have the highlights of the day. His 55 yd TD reception was all over Sports Center. Palmer had time to pass & he took advantage. John Brown was a consistent target for him hauling in a TD on 46 yds. TE Darren Fells emerged, & boy is he a big target. He could really become a star on this “O” w/Fitz, Brown & Floyd garnering attention elsewhere on the field. CHI can be a gritty team, so they may keep this gm close, but I’m confident enough in Bruce Arians to pull out a win here over the team that bypassed him for HC (hiring now departed Trestman instead, 2 yrs ago).
