Was on a great family vacation so I was unable to post last wk. However, I did play & want to document it here just for my own record keeping.
4 Units POW ARI -4 ½ W; 2 Units KC -10 L; 2 Units BUF -6 ½ W; 1 Unit NE -3 L.
UNDOCUMENTED record: POW 8-7-1, Overall 37-40-1.
POW 7-7-1, Teasers 5-6, Overall 35-38-1
PIT (-11) lost to a hapless BAL team led by Ryan Mallett. Big Ben threw 2 ugly INTs & should have thrown a bad pick-6 in BAL’s endzone, but a lining up offsides penalty erased a 101 yd return by Jimmy Smith. BAL always plays PIT w/confidence, which is how PIT always plays CLE. Ben is 19-4 vs CLE, & 8-2 SU @ CLE. After that awful performance from Ben & Martavis Bryant (1 rec for 6 yds), I fully expect a HUGE rebound here. CLE’s “D”, namely their secondary, is banged up & even when healthy, PIT’s WRs seem to eat them for breakfast w/no leftovers to spare. Bryant is resting w/an undisclosed illness but is expected to play thru that w/PO’s on the line. PIT will need BUF to beat NYJ (same game times), but the team is focused on handling their side of the equation. CLE is off a spirited contest against the red hot Chiefs, but CLE has been pretty good outside their div. They’re 1-4 ATS vs the AFC North, but have 5 wins ATS outside it. On top of that, their “D” has given up a minimum of 30 ppg within their div, including against the struggling Ravens. PIT will be scoring at least 30 as their “O” will want to make up for their pathetic performance last wk, they historically own CLE’s “D”, & CLE’s DBs are a MASH unit. If this is the case, all PIT’s inconsistent “D” has to do is hold Austin Davis & Isaiah Crowell to less than 20 pts. Not a difficult task & should be much easier than Mallett & Javorius Allen, who only mustered exactly 20 last wk. Interesting side note is HC Mike Pettine is expected to be fired sometime after this gm, which would then continue a CLE streak of 5 HC’s being let go following a season finale loss to the Steelers.
