Boy oh boy. What a rough little stretch for the Worm. Flacco stunk it up, and BAL's "D" still almost won them the gm. I know that Holmes TD was a bad call, but that definitely wasn't the gm. If Flacco had just focused a little more this would've been an easy one. And in actuality I liked the Under more than the side, but my mild hatred of Totals kept me from making that a POW. Lesson learned.
Wormy Pix POW now stands at a ho-hum 9-5-1, and on a 2 gm slide, which is absolutely unacceptable. Hope to get back on track here.
This'll seem like a performance chasing pick, but it's not. PIT is on a roll now, having beaten NE, DAL, BAL, and are on a 5 gm win streak (4-0 ATS). TEN is on a 2 gm slide, and like the NYG are losing momentum fast. So people expect TEN to come up big at home. But, if TEN's "O" had trouble scoring, and more importantly running, on NYJ & HOU's "D", what makes people think they can do it against PIT? And TEN's success has been due largely to their run gm. When Collins has to win the gm, that's when they lose! And Collins is doing well actually, as it's his receivers that's screwing up most of the time. Which brings me to PIT. Their "D" is the best in the league right now. They are playing with so much intensity, it's no wonder Ben can play with such confidence, even if he's stinking up the joint early & often. Then, when PIT goes into the no-huddle, and Ben starts finding his receivers, boom, they win the gm in the end. The largest factor here also happens to be the largest player on "D". Albert Haynesworth is the cog that makes this whole TEN "D" go 'round. He demands double teams, which opens up the rest of the dline, and he'll occasionally bust thru that anyway. And with his pressure, the TEN secondary takes advantage. More important than his pass rush (which is great) is his run stuffing. Teams almost have to go to the DE's to run the ball. He was having a career yr, and now 275 lb rookie Jason Jones, a converted DE who has only 25 tackles on the yr, is starting at Tackle. On a lesser note, but still very important, non-stop DE Kyle Vanden Bosch is out too. I promise you, PIT's "O" will do far better than most pundits believe this sunday. Haynesworth changes the whole dynamic of this team. And his absence will not be made up against a crushing PIT "D", and an "O" that never gives up. I expect a defensive battle, so again, the Under is a great play as well.
