Struggling mightily in the critical wks leading to POs. BUF had gm in hand, but penalties (BUF’s MO) on both sides of the ball ultimately doomed them. For some reason Taylor stopped passing to Watkins in 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half. SEA was my only win of the wk, while IND & TEN killed my teaser.
POW 6-7-1, Teasers 4-6, Overall 32-37-1
CIN (-6 ½) lost surging Andy Dalton last wk to a broken thumb & will not see his return until at least the POs. Enter former Alabama QB AJ McCarron. He threw 2 TDs including a nice 60 yarder to fellow AJ, but also threw 2 ugly pix that ultimately cost them the gm. Coaches probably took McCarron to the video rm & showed the young QB his bad decision making against pressure. I feel against SF, you’ll see him throw the ball away or even take the sack in the face of pressure. SF was absolutely embarrassed @ CLE, allowing one of the worst running teams to gash them for over 200 yds. SF is now statistically eliminated from POs & are playing out the string. They may show up here against a marquee opponent, but I think CIN will rally behind their young signal caller like all good teams do. Once you know you can’t rely on your QB to win gms, typically a team plays tighter, smarter ball. CIN’s “D” is no joke either, which should spell trouble for Gabbert & co. I expect to see him & oline improve on 9 sacks they gave up to CLE, but not by much w/CIN coming in w/34 sacks thus far. Another positive going for CIN is their run gm, where if Gio or Hill rush for at least 50 yds, they’re 6-0. SF is near the bottom in run “D” & gave up Isaiah Crowell’s first 2 rushing TDs of the YEAR last wk. CIN can clinch div w/win.
