Talk about a shot to the confidence. At least I didn’t go 0-fer, but I managed to notch losses in both my POW & Teaser. JAX came in absolutely listless while IND’s “D” played out of their mind, esp in the secondary. Diving to bat would-be TDs & 1[SUP]st[/SUP] downs, Foles actually looked good in his comeback attempt, but his WRs were not making great efforts to catch balls & Marrone took Fournette, their backbone on “O”, out of the gameplan. Sad outing all around for JAX. PIT lost half their starters on “O” on Thurs, JAX performed so poorly that they also blew up my teaser, which is why I rarely have my POW in my teaser, but lowly NYJ & ARI helped soften what was another losing wk.
Regular Season POW 4-7, Teasers 8-3, GOY 1-0, Overall 27-28
DEN +4 is 3-7 while BUF is a perfect opposite 7-3. However, after coming in for an injured Flacco, Brandon Allen has quietly put together 2 very solid gms, against 2 fairly good teams. CLE still has a losing record, but they rattled off 2 straight impressive wins after their loss @ DEN. MIN is a PO contender & still look to win the NFC North. A 6[SUP]th[/SUP] rd pick out of Arkansas, Allen has been a journeyman in his short NFL career, being signed by DEN just a wk before the season opened. Against 2 talented “D”s, he’s compiled a modest 83.5 QBR, completing only 50% of his passes, but avg 7.3 yds per pass, which is very good. What really impressed me was his calm & accuracy in the final minutes @ MIN, where he needed to convert 3 4[SUP]th[/SUP] downs, to get near the goal line, for the gm winning TD. Several potential DPIs in the endzone prevented him from being the hero. In the 1[SUP]st[/SUP]half, DEN was actually up 20-0 on the Vikings. On the other side of the ball, DEN’s “D” is performing as they should, ranking 4[SUP]th[/SUP] in “D”, 8[SUP]th[/SUP] in scoring & 7[SUP]th[/SUP] against the run. I mention that last stat because that’s obviously important against BUF, who is 8[SUP]th[/SUP] best on the ground on “O”. BUF’s “D” is also tremendous this yr, however DEN has the horses (pun intended) to attack this “D”. BUF is 19[SUP]th[/SUP]against the run, giving up 11 TDs on the ground. DEN now has a 3-headed attack, w/Lindsay, Freeman & Booker @ RB. Allen (Brandon-type) also showed some legs on 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] downs against MIN. So I predict a few rushing TDs for DEN in this tilt. BUF CB Tre’Davious White shut down OBJ & McLaurin in recent wks, but struggled against 6’3 DeVante Parker. DEN has a trio of 6’4 targets in Sutton, Patrick & Fant. Allen has a nice touch on his jumpball passes to take advantage of that height. DEN’s “D” should have the smarts & speed to not let Allen (Josh-type) beat them, similar to CLE’s efforts against BUF several wks ago.
