Tried to be the hero at the end. Awful, awful coaching at the end of the game by Notre Dame. The ball tied with just over a minute left and end up running the clock all the way down and taking an awful desperation long shot that gets blocked. Then after Kentucky goes ahead Grant again refuses to pass the ball and takes it the length of the court and takes a desperation corner 3 that had no chance. There were two people on the other side of the court wide open if he passes it when he caught the inbounds pass. Grant and Brey absolutely blew the game.

There last 3 possessions were terrible !!

Yes they were. It is a shame that they let Kentucky win like that. Seems like the ball never left Grant's hands. Stupid step back desperation 3's (I know that is all Notre Dame does but at the end of the game you have to pass the ball and get a better shot). He was clearly trying to be the hero and refused to let anyone else take the limelight from him. Well, he has the limelight now. Limelight of blowing it.

Guess, we must have been watching different games. Thought Brey coached brilliantly. Notre Dame had no timeouts with six seconds to go .... guess, you thought Kentucky wouldn't play any defense on that last play and just give the Irish a wide open three pointer. I promise you no one on the Notre Dame basketball teams feels like an idiot ... they played their hearts out, against a superior team, and almost got the miracle win.

What about the possession when the game was tied and they had the ball with just over a minute left and ran the clock all the way down only to take a desperation step back shot that got blocked? I don't know what year the guard Grant is but he needs his scholarship removed for how he played. Somebody should have told him to stop being a ball hog and trying to be a hero. Brey absolutely blew the game with his incomprehensible coaching in the last 3 minutes.

Too much dribbling by Grant the last 2-3 times N D had the ball, he should have drove & kicked, i kept saying that to a group of guys at the local sports bar where we met to watch the game, he was trying to be the hero & maybe cost his team the game!

Ever tried to pass the ball against two defenders that are over 6'6'', while in a full sprint? Yea neither have I. I'm guessing it's just about impossible.

Let's examine Grant's stats. 4/14 from the field, 1/6 from three point. And absolutely refusing to pass the ball no matter what in the last 3 possessions.

Grant played hero ball the last few minutes, no doubt about that. It cost them.

The last possession was tough, hounded by much taller players down he sideline. If Brey had kept a TO, he could have used that time to draw up a play, instead of having to resort to Grant running up the court without a clue. You NEVER run down the sideline, giving the defense a 6th defender. Take it down the center of the court, and give yourself options.

You can blame the coach, but its the players that make decisions on the court. Grant decided to be the hero at the end, dominating the ball, and jacking up shots.

The problem was NO TIMEOUTS left.

You want them to run a set play with 6 seconds?...LMAO.

1 TIMEOUT was needed to have a chance to win.

I blame the coach for not having 1.

I stated this in the above post. He wasted his timeouts and should have kept one.

6 seconds is PLENTY of time to run a play. LMAO if you don't think that isn't enough time.

That doesn't mean Grant didn't make a poor decision, running up the sideline.

What can you do?

Have someone else run from end to end??...LOL

Pick your poison....That was the only play....LOL.

1 TIMEOUT would have changed things....For at least a good shot.

I agree with you. I DO NOT blame the kid.. he did all he could do in the situation...only thing i saw was maybe he could have jumped in to the defender opposed to stepping back but that it is easy for me to say... as much credit as we gave ND through out the whole game I think its not how bad ND played out the serious but how good the kids from UK pressured the ball.. the kid had two guys on him in front an back.. he had zero options other then throw something up..

Really? Do you not remember game 6 of the NBA finals in 1993 against Phoenix when he passed to a wide open John Paxson for the winning 3? Now, just to be clear, are we trying to compare ball hog grant to Michael Jordan?

I said running down the sideline was a bad idea.

Run down court. No shit. Nobody expected him to walk it up.
