Dante, still too early, but do like Afleet Alex and Noble Causeway at this point.

I've been on Bandini for two months now and I'm sticking with him. I'm disappointed that he's probably going to be second choice. I was hoping for double digits.

Looking for a price and therefore will be going with BC Champ...Wilko. Derby usually a crap shoot, I'll take my chances with this guy. The trip more important than talent in many races and this is certainly one of them. GL.

once the pp are drawn we'll then hopefully get a feel on how the race will shape up. Two things seem clear as of now. First, Bellamy Road will be installed as the ML fav and second Zito/Pletcher will compromise 40% of the field with 5 and 3 startes respectivly.

Dante:

Have to agree with Judge and Dime that it is still too early as final workouts still remain for early this week followed by the post position draw, not to mention track condition on Derby Day. That being said, I still have a least five still in consideration and will be studying the Daily Racing Form throughout the week to see if the race sets up for others. But for now, horses still in consideration for not only the win but the exotics are Bellamy Road, Afleet Alex, Bandini, High Fly and High Limit. Pace makes the race, so until I see all the entries and can determine how I think the race might be run, no firm decision at this time.

An old saying, perhaps one you have heard before:

"If You Don't Know The Pace, You Won't Win The Race"

Perhaps on Derby Day, a lively discussion between posters regarding pace might be of great value. It would be interesting if a number of us tried to provide what we thought might be the various quarter mile fractions and perhaps the leaders and followers at each point in the race. Some may see it as fast, while others may see it as moderate. I think the varying views on pace could be very helpful to everyone. Just a thought.

Great. I'll chime in and try to do the same.

Cool. The more posters that break down the race, the lesser the chance that we miss something.

I could go with any one of 6 horses right now. Only morning work I saw and didn't like was Flower Alley & Greely's Galaxy. Value will certainly be with High Fly, most accomplished and is being ignored by most.

DickyW:

Agree. High Fly appears to be one who is not getting enough attention and should be a good price. Earlier in this thread, it was mentioned that Bandini might be second choice. Personally, I think otherwise. I believe Afleet Alex will a strong second choice most likely behind Bellamy Road. Bandini perhaps third choice.
