....it was all an artificial dream boys....

Remember when 50 was alot? When George Foster
icon_cool.gif
hit 52 in 1977, that was the first time I had been around for a player to hit 50+ homers, and it seemed unthinkable for anyone to hit 61...

Please put the accomplishments of the past 10 years in its proper perspective...remember Brady Anderson
icon_eek.gif
even hit 50 home runs!

So we are now back to 50 being the magic number I think...

Also Cecil Feilder hit 51 and I am pretty sure he earned that feat playing in cavernours Yankee Stadium as well...

I think 50 is the magic number, do you guys see anyone hitting 50?

I think a handful of guys will hit 50 this year. Wouldn't surprise me if someone hit 60.

General, Sosa hit 40 last year while missing 25 games in an awful year where he had a toe injury than landed him on the DL, two beanings and the cork suspension. He's got more protection this year and should be healthier. Hard to see why he shouldn't get 50+.

Not to be picky, but Cecil Fielder hit his 51 as a Detroit Tiger in 1990.

i think jim tomme has a shot

i believe he is clean
he has natural bull strengh at 6'4 and 240lbs

i cant find his weight when he was a rookie

it will be great if there was a comparison of starting rookie weight and end of the career weight of old time hr hitters vs these stero boys

george foster
mike schimdt
gorman thomas
dave kingman
andre dawson
hank aron
reggie jackson etc

vs these 35-50lb jump in weight stero boys

guys diluted pitching and smaller parks has a little something to do with it. Im a 18yr weight lifter and lifetime baseball historian but i have different feelings than you guys on this subject.. Not saying right or wrong but i am saying that the old timers would have taken it, if they had the opportunity.. Dbol became popular in the mid to late 60's, no HGH was around. its taken from the pituitary glands of aborted fetuses.. ive seen a lot of wrestlers on the stuff, it can actually make you grow taller in your 30's and your shoe size increase.. remember the wrestler China, she was on the stuff bigtime, also scotty steiner.. he does not even look like the same person from 10yrs ago.. Speaking from experience, weight traing can take you from 35hr a year to 55 but not to 75.. You need the juice or HGH to go that high but weights will make you much, much stronger..

Listen to the guys vehemently denying taking roids, and its true because they are on HGH and not roids.. maybe the test cream but not the detectable roids..

What i want to see talked about is the small middle infielder who goes from 8 homeruns to 25. Or the guy who has been at Triple A ball for 4 years and goes from banging 15 homers to 35 homers and makes the show.. These allocations should not fall on Bonds, Sosa, Mac alone,, let all of them take the blame...

Seriously, i saw a psychic on a TV show about a year ago, say this steroid scandal will rock the baseball world and i dont believe in psychics but when this issue came up, i flashed back on this guy..

ssi ive also work out w/ weights last 12 years

i disagree, at a avg rookie age 20-23, their bodies all already matured and filled out

i started bodybuilding at 17 but at 21, i believe you can only add 10-15 pounds of muscle and that is it

of course you and i know 10 lbs of muscle is a huge difference and you can definatly tell

but what these cheaters are doing adding 35+ lbs after 21 years old is a joke

Like Glavine said, it's all just a smoke screen until MLB actually adopts a tougher testing procedure. We will continue to see home runs on the rise until steriod testing is enforced and no loopholes exist. Officials familiar with steroids and sports have roundly criticized the program, saying it would hardly keep a player from taking steroids. Under baseball's plan, the first positive test for steroid use results in treatment only. A second positive test brings a fine and suspension, but a player would have to test positive five times to get a one-year suspension. The Major League Players Association has steadfastly opposed all forms of drug testing, calling it a privacy issue. However, several players publicly have urged baseball to adopt tougher testing procedures as steroids continue to dominate spring headlines.
