I've had weak wireless problems across the house forever, I always assumed it was my Verizon which is ****ty compared to my Comcast cable anyhow, but I setup my comcast wireless today and its weak across the house too, they are both 4 bars and perfect in my office, but neither can reach that in the living room which makes playing full tilt difficult.

It's going to be the wireless signal strength.

A signal booster or addtional access point should fix it.

In rare cases, the signal could also be getting jacked up by some electrical interference.

Yeah, it's more or less another router.

What band is the router that you got today?

when i was setting up this new router and i got to the last step where it said plug it in, the connection would go intermittent and i could never finish setting it up with a network name and everything... The connection is fine though as long as I'm not trying to complete that step.. how do i go about naming this network.... 192.168.1.1? its requiring a username and password which i cant get into

it says wireless-N Broadband Router

N Ultra Rangeplus

linksys

Well, that should be about as strong of a signal as you're going to get without relocation your router connection or adding a second one.

If you are connected, I don't think you have to worry about the network name\login stuff. The linksys documentation should include the default username\password info.

Ahhhhh, okay-so you may still be connecting to the other wireless router.

If this other one is 192.168.1.1, make this one 192.168.1.2 (and use that as it's IP address.....they both can't use 1.1)

TT - I may be PM'ing you about this router stuff in the next day. I bought a Intellinet 523431 router and am clueless on why it cannot find a signal. It is costing me money not being able to bet 2nd halves.

I have my main computer upstairs on the 2nd level and I also have comcast and a router and I have a D-Link ANT24-0700 7dBi Gain omni-directional antenna plugged into the router and I have strong signals in my basement and also in my backyard. This is the antenna:

Matt, have you checked the wireless card that hooks into your laptop? I had bad connections every where I went but when I replaced the wireless card I was able to get good connections.
