Justin Abdelkader will step in this afternoon for the injured Thomas Kopecky. Abdelkader is another quality rookie to come thru the pipeline to join the ranks of Darrin Helm and Jonathon Ericsson. Abdelkader just finished his season in the AHL playoffs where he led the Griffins with 6 goals and 2 assists in 10 games. Justin will play on the checking line along side Malty and Samuelsson. Abdelkader is much more talented and opportunistic than Kopecky and should cause just that much more problems for the Ducks by inserting this fresh, energetic and tough set of legs against a tiring, weary and shorthanded Ducks team.
From an editors note: Kopecky was useless. Wings will really throw 4 solid lines at the Ducks today. Their gonna need a great game plan. I only hope it's not J.S Giguire. He could possibly throw a monkey wrench into the situation.
Ducks G Jean-Sebastien Giguere made a sensational playoff debut at Joe Louis Arena on April 10, 2003 in Game 1 of the Detroit-Anaheim Conference Quarterfinal, setting a record for most saves by a goaltender in his first postseason game (63) as the Ducks upset the Red Wings in triple overtime.
