Wow,

Maybe they can pry Callahan out of Nebraska's strong grip.

Have to give credit to Brock Landers, who set up the joke a couple weeks ago. I found the picture on-line and adapted it as my own. The movie is one of my favorites. Anyone that has had to put on a tie and go work in a cubicle gets it.

willingham fired!

Pretty shocking- was he suppose to beat USC to keep his job....wondering now if a frontline coach will wanna consider Notre Dame, seeing that the last guy got whacked only after 3 seasons (1 good, 1 bad, 1 mediocre) . They'll probably have to settle for a Bob Toledo or a Jon Mackovic....

DAMN!!!! That is just ridiculous to fire him after three seasons. I suspect they have already secured Urban Meyer and the firing was a means to an end.

Urban Meyer has said he would like that job....
it is one of meyer's 3 or 4 outs at UTAH. So it would make sense. Too bad spurrier went to SC, i would have loved to see spurrier at ND for the entertainment value. But i would guess this move was made for Urban Meyer. ANd since stanford just fired their Head Coach, Ty can go back to stanford.

if I was Urban Meyer, I would stay at Utah. Look at LaVell Edward's run at BYU (the same metro area). He won/shared an NCAA crown, built a giant among the boys in the WAC/MtnWest. Edwards is a HallofFamer, Meyer has a chance to be something similar in a small cozy fishbowl, where Dame's huge fishbowl is prone to be more nerve wracking than fun. I don't think Meyer is any more skilled than Davies or Willingham, I see the same fate happening with him as long as Dame's conservative frontoffice keeps cracking the ruler

Sucks to be the Florida AD right about now. :finger:

Really hated to see him go as he adds some class that has been lacking lately an ND. He did have a hard time recruiting here, didn't help when he got hired in, it was at the end of recruiting season. I think the BC and Pitt games really did him in.

Sounds like Washington is interested, wouldn't surprise me is goes back to Stanford.

The Urban Meyer will be starting shortly. :suomi:

why is it ridiculous to fire him after only 3 seasons when no one had a problem with Ron Zook's firering after 3 seasons and they had basically the same record. In my opinion this is his 3rd year and he needs to have a better record in his 3rd year. In his 1st you can deal with a lossing season because those kids weren't his players but after 3 years most of ND's players are players he recruited and they aren't good. 6-5 doesn't keep your job at ND. period.

And yes office space is one of the best movies ever. F-ing A.

I heard a sound clip from a Notre Dame administrator (president or AD, can't remember) on the radio this morning. He said something to the effect of: "Sunday through Friday, Tyrone is doing a great job--the team is as strong academically as it has ever been, they are involved in the community and campus activities, and there have been no off-field problems to speak of. But on Saturdays, he is not getting the job done."

Without even getting into the social commentary on where values are and where they should be for STUDENT-athletes (cough), I think this administrator is an idiot for admitting this on the radio, basically coming right out and saying that winning games is more important than running a quality program, generating good citizens, and giving young men an education. Unbelievable times we live in.

I agree with LSUPete that it sure looks like ND is just creating a vacancy for Urban Meyer to fill. Ty Willingham is a class act and will be an asset to whatever team picks him up next IMO.
