Ok, so I'm in a big multi and I have like 11,000 chips, I'm dealt AJ clubs and I'm 2 positions infront of the button, blinds are 150/300, so I raisse to 900 and the guy right after has been goin all in all day with crap. So he obviosuly just pushes all in for 7,000, everyone else folds. So I'm just like screw this donkey I'm calling. So of Course he has Q9 and of course he flops a 9. Was this dumb, shud I ahve waited for a hand where I actually hit a flop before I call an all in.

I fold for many reasons, number 1 being some players play like that so their big hands do get paid off, you cant be sure AJ is the best hand, most of the time it isn't going to be. The other is the reason you just said, if you are better than your opponents then you want to see flops and out play them after

here is my question to you. are you trying to win the tourney or just trying to make the money? Getting your money in at a 62/37 fav isn't a bad thing.

Your read was correct...don't be results related with your poker decisions. You made the correct move...period.

Along those lines, where were you in terms of tournament position? Unless you were on the inside of the bubble and needed only one or two players knocked out to clinch the money, I'd say you definitely made the right call.

I would fold plain and simple. If this player has been doing this all night long why take a chance with AJ? Any pair and he is ahead of you. Wait to hit a flop against him and then trap him. I run into this a lot in tournaments. You have to remain patient. Wait to catch QQ or something and then bust them!

That is tru, but if I sit their waiting for QQ, I'll probably blind myself to death.

It gets to a point where I know exactly what you are saying.

I JUST played a tournament that way in which the guy went all in hand after hand. I folded A-8 suited, K-10, J-10, and then bam, AA. I said please please don't fold this time and he didn't. I finally got to see what he had. Q-6. Doubled up and was chip leader. He had me down 12,000 to 3000 by that time. Two hands later he raised, and I called with 10-10. Flopped the 10 and checked. He also checked. I checked the turn and bam another huge bet. I reraised all in and it was game over. It was all about the patience. Why get into a coin flip with a guy when I know I can trap him later if I'm patient.
