Will the US laws ever change regard to internet gambling? Will they ever regulate the industry instead of ignore a multibillion dollar industry. The last time I checked the Internet is not going away. And as long as people have money they will gamble. Than what is up with all of this regulation. If Bush and his cronies were tied into gambling like they are into oil, do you think this would have been made illegal in the US. Any opinions would be great.

This is how legalization would work:

Step 1) Nevada (or another State) would permit casino & poker rooms in their State operate online and accept residents *only within that State*.

Step 2) One or more other states follow suit.

Step 3) The states from step 1 & 2 come to an agreement to also allow residents of those states to wager online at casinos poker rooms in any of those respective states.

This is how interstate horse racing current works.

And given there is no federal law against poker or casino wagering, there isn't anything stopping it.

The Step that won't likely happen is that the states permitting interstate online casino and poker wagering will ask for a repeal of the Wire Act to enable also sports wagering. Sportsbooks are already entirely marginalized in Vegas, so its hard to believe they'll fight for them against the opposition by the NFL and NCAA.

Given that the federal law against "illegal" gambling was created at the behest of state attorney generals, it's unlikely any changes in federal law will happen that isn't at the request of the states.

However in any case the latest law passed UIGEA requires no modification given it addressed only illegal gambling (i.e. illegal by state law) -- doesn't prevent states legalizing gambling at all.

It would be impossible to enforce a law that affects the players.
