Ha.....I don't know if there will be a good opportunity or not Shortbus, but probably not. I did play 2Units on Denver to win the NBA Title yeserday at +1500 at 5Dimes, so that would be my best chance at any makeup of my futures on Lakers winning the East & just hope that Denver can pull it off if they somehow make it to the Finals to cover the other Laker wagers, but even then they may not get through Houston themselves if they get past LA & I will probably end up eating those LA futures. Still early but Ron Artest made some good points a couple of days ago when he pointed out that whey Houston played LA earlier in the year, Yao was out 1 game, Artest was out himself in another one of the matchups, and they had just traded Alston in another. I believe it was the last game they played Artest said in which Houston finally had their team together in which they played LA tough. Everything he pointed out seemed true last night....

I was wondering, as I also have a large series bet on LA at -140 from early 2009.

I was not impressed last night, and Artest has been playing mind games for a few days now. I've been wary of the Rockets since reading more about Morey's research with Battier and Artest guarding Kobe's tendencies.

I feel Derek Fisher is becoming a double-liability, as he can't stop Brooks and he has been in a shooting slump for the past few weeks.

I considered hedging on the Nuggets but chose against it. I never would have put any considerable amount of $ down on the Rockets though, as I thought Portland was a toss-up.

I will have to ride this one out.

Rockets will kill a lot of Square betters.
Lakers get upset, and the books will flourish.
You wait and see.

The Lakers will beat the Houston Rockets, you can bet on that. Seems like David Stern and the league have a vested interest and crafting a Kobe vs Lebron (Lakers vs Cavaliers) Finals this year, especially when TV ratings and corporate sponserships are going to be important during this tough economic time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there is a conspiracy theory, I'm just saying the odds of the Lakers coming out of the West and the Cavs in the East is the most likely scenario, we all know this. The Rockets don't have enough firepower to beat the Lakers in a seven game series.

With all that said, I hope the Nuggets make it to the Finals and win a championship, they are my favorite team for many years now! :103631605

As long as ABC has James, they don't need Kobe.

That may be so, but who says Houston advances further after knocking out LA.

I don't think ratings will suffer if LA loses this series.

then you are not thinking in tune with Vegas and the West Coast. Denver nor the Rockets carries a viewership like LA does

Lakers will get pounded by the public if they make the Finals again. Just like last year

the fact that the Lakers were -140, -160, -200, -220 favorites to win the West and every other playoff team was +1000 or greater seems to say that the books would get crushed on futures if another team made the Finals. I surmise a good number of sharp early Lakers betters hedged on the cheap to cover any slipups

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

Great start to the series.. Rockets only need to get one game in la..
If the Rockets advance it will be because of D.. LA can't win if they can't score..and they won't be able to stop Yao...jmo

This will be a good series but I really wouldn't be shocked to see the Rockets win.

It's comical to me that everybody and their mother gave the Rockets zero chance to win this series.

L5Y, USC is 4-0 vs SEC, outscoring them 167-48!!!

The Lakers will be fine. They will come back in game 2 and lay a beatdown on Houston. They will at least win one if not two in Houston. They played as poorly as they could possibly play last night. Dont look for a repeat performance like that. Houston shot lights out in the 2H, something they wont do again.

Uh, have we all forgotten that the Lakers still won four out of five from the Rockets this season..

I know that a lot of people(especially on these forums) like to feel like they are sharp and try to seperate themselves from public perception by picking the underdog..

But C'mon, its just one game and the Lakers are definitely a team who is built to win on the road..
