A title is a title, but should the 2009 NBA Champion Lakers or Magic even be mentioned in the same breath as past championship teams?

What teams can we really consider worse?

Any time you have the best player in the world on the championship team, I don't think it can be considered least talented.

I agree with this thread initially. Kobe is great, but the rest of that talent is mediocre absent Gasol, and even he isnt a top notch second best player. At least the magoc have three legit all starts this year.

Sign of a watered down NBA.

Some people have labeled them as seeming rather Ordinary

Beat a team with very weak defense (Utah), another team with two missing starters (Houston) and then had legitimate win over Denver - another team with just two All Star calibre players.

(oh, and they trampled the pootie out of my preferred team this past Thursday)

These same exact Lakers were the favorites in last years finals, so wouldn't that make the 2008 Celtics (who were very close to losing before the Finals) not much better?
