heh..TRS, the closest I've come to watching the events at a national political convention during the past six general election cycles is the teasing chitchat we trade here at the RxPoliticoPub.

I did go out today and vote in our state primaries in hopes I can help move some more Democrats into office for the US Congress. But that didn't require me burning any Real Life watching the Denver or (upcoming) Minnesota fanfare.

Only this year so far. I think it was needed. Really think Clinton supporters needed to hear this speech to back the democratic nominee.

TRS, the Democrats from my end of the country are likely a bit different breed from those up your way.

Too many of yours have likely burned the past 15+ years trying to prop up the once respectable and now overly bloated labor unions.

Down here, they mainly serve more traditional roles of countering hard core right wing Repubs and I think most of us can agree that's a good place to be.

If McCain picks Lieberman it will change a lot of voters minds. That's about it!

Well, tonight was definitely pivotal as far as the entire Democratic campaign. Hillary finally nurtured the seeds to unify this party and I believe it happened. The final two days will put this party over the top and turn it into a runaway train once again coming out of the convention.

On top of which the democratic party already established multiple millions more of newly registered voters over the republicans. Thats something
that hasn't been mentioned so far. The Dems as a whole really went out and padded thier stake in voters this election term. Repubs don't have that kind of steam to catch up.

What's also interesting. If that hurricane comes in early next week and hits land its really gonna split the news cycle in two and take away some of the attention from the GOP convention. LOL What better way to feed those affected in the past with FEMA as they're reminded this administration (which McSame will piggyback) will fail them yet again.

No the actual conventions won't.

But they drive news stories/shape messages

That can certainly change/alter some people's minds.

If you are on a political forum then you are probably into politics. Most Americans are not, therefore don't know who they would vote for. These things will not effect the majority on here but in a lot of undecided households it will be the deciding factor.

I'm hoping that the Dem's convention changes the linemaker's mind. If the moneyline goes to more than +200 (Reps to win) then I can hammer it one last time.

The minds of the political geeks cannot be changed. And only political geeks can stomach watching more than a few minutes of convention coverage a day, so no, minds will not change after the conventions. However, there usually are short term changes in polling numbers due to exposure.

Most minds will be made up when the 10 second sound bites are drilled into their heads. And you have to avoid those all important "gotcha moments".
