Call the hotel tell them what time your flight arrives and have them pick u up in the airport shuttle (504-378-7000) ....your a long ways from the motel damn taxi gonna kill you....thats a new hotel that caters to buisness travelers from where its located..your not close to anything there. 10 mi. from the french quarter and further from harrahs..your only there for 2 days you might look into one of those guided tour trips..they'll transpost you there show you around a lil then cut you lose..ride back with em or find your own way depending on what you end up doing..probably call harrahs( 504-533-6000)
and get a p/u from ur hotel as well or look for a day trip to biloxi...beaches and casino's! cant beat that..

Don't do what i did

a few years ago. Stayed at a place right outside NO cause i was there to see the Saints and Rams playoff game. THe only friggin places outside the city to eat are KFC and Subway. Needless to say for five days thats all i ate KFC and Subway. Man i couldnt wait to get back home. I did hang out at Harrah's though one day all day and the BJ dealer paid me 11 times on hands that i should of lost. Man the guy must have been senile or something. I wouldn't go to any of the rinkydink casinos right outside the city they pretty much suck. They remind of the little $hithole casinos in Costa Rica. However i would definately check out Biloxi cause it was fine there!!!

Mike Anderson's on Bourbon St has one of the best dishes i have ever eaten! Try this, you will not be dissapointed

Also a little whole in the wall on Conti called "Oceana" has an excellent cajun ribeye and what my wife claims are the best BBQ shrimp in New Orleans, thoguh when they say BBQ don't expect what you see on ribs, its cajun style and is something out of this world!

Food is the ticket here, nothing will dissapoint.

I was going to bring the computer with me but at the last minute decided to leave it home casue I wanted just a couple of days away from everything so I forgot what everyone's suggestions were, but as luck would have it, I had dinner my first night at Mike Anderson's and yes I had The Guitreau and Brock you are 100% correct. I exxagerate not, THE BEST meal I ever had! Wow! I can't say enuff. I had that dish with a great potato, salad, and a couple of Hurricanes! :drink:

As far as going off Bourbon Street area being dangerous, I didn't see it. I ended up renting a car and driving around some....guess you guys all live in really far out places cause i have lived in shhitty areas much of my life....no problems

Harrah's was horrible! Went to a comedy show there and ate at the buffett, those were fine, but the actual gaming experience was horrible! I hate casinos that only allow you to play poker with one hand, and they were one of them. Also, in three card poker, they do not allow you to play Pairs Plus only! WTF is that? Very tiny place!

Overall NO was cool, good to go for a night or 2 of partying but other than that not much to it....
