Hey Sherman I lived there in 93. Though there was no Casino then there is one now right downtown. Also of course hit Bourbon Street. Cat's Meow was the spot there but that was over a decade ago. Another must is a stop by Cafe Dumond to have some French Benaits (sp). Take the street car (never call it a trolley) to uptown and take a walk through Audobon Park.

just a warning, take cabs not rental cars...get just a few blocks off the main tourist streets, take one wrong turn and you can find yourself in DEEP trouble....not a city to joyride in.

Stay on the main streets and walk with confidence and you will be fine. Watch the wallet and swivel the head for a look-see ever so often. It is really not bad ....just common sense type stuff.

I asked about New Orleans also in here about 2 months ago. Got some good advice.

One thing you might want to do is take the tour of the cemeteries. Why? Don't ask me. Someone told me it was worth it, but never got around to it.

Went to Harrah's a couple of times. (Most overweight people I've ever seen in my life hanging out there. :)) Not many high rollers in that place except at the buffet line.

Had a friend who was there for work, so I'd bar hop during the day, (you can take your drink out of the restaurants by the way.)walk around, take a nap at 4pm, then go out for dinner each night and then some more drinking. W Hotel has a really nice bar in it if you're getting dressed up.

I was there for three days and that was plenty. Hope you like seafood.

New Orleans is below sea level. The cemetaries are above ground. Also influenced by the French. Crypts and Tombs.

Any city known for having a high number of drunken tourists will have its share of pickpockets.
