USA is definitely going to score over 100, Australia has one of the worst defenses in this Olympics, and the way USA is playing right now, they're going to romp Australia. Throw the first game they played out the window. Australias offense ain't that bad either, they're shooting at a very good %, best in 3's and not too far behing in 2 pt goals. Of course USA's defense will cut that down, but they are easily one of the best scoring teams in this Olympics, too bad their defense ain't too good.

Over USA/AUSTRALIA

Please for those of you betting so heavily on the under, explain to me why, I would like to hear your opinions...cause apparently I'm the only one that thinks this is going over...

If the US scores 100, can you count on the Aussies to score 80 or more to cover that 179 number?

US will score more than 100, I'd say around 105-110 pts. Australia has averaged over 100 pts in the last 3 games, albeit one of those was against Iran. Australia hasn't put up less than 82 points this Olympics and with the pace US runs, I'm sure they'll have more FG attempts than they've been averaging, and they're like the 2nd or 3rd best team in this Olympics shooting the ball.

aus vs usa defense...

Yeah, USA's defense is terrific which gives them a ton of fastbreak pts and speeds up the game. Especially Australia's D is horrible. China put up 70 on US, Angola put up 76, Greece had a bad shooting night, Spain put up points and Germany is just horrible. Australia's offense is better than all 4 of these teams, just their D is that bad. Hell, Australia gave up 97 points to Croatia...CROATIA. Actually the more I look at this game, the more i'm liking it. I think US is going to score 110+, which means i'll only need 70 from Australia which is way less than anything they've put up thus far. Australia ain't going to try and slow this game down...I think i'm going to double my play on this..gl to all...

nope, it's actually 33, 34 on bodog, but I think i'll stay away, if Australia puts up their Avg, which is more than 80, and us scores like around 110, only the over covers.

China
Lithuania 08/20/08(04:45 ET)
Lithuania -10

I just want opinions, valid arguments, cause maybe the over is not a good play, but from what i've seen so far in this Olympics + the stats, I'm liking the over...

Pretty even game in my opinion, so I woulda take a shot at the Greece mL, but I would rather not play it....I don't see much of an edge on the O/U, maybe a slight lean towards the over, but that's only a lean...I'd rather just watch it...

I don't see Aussies pushing the tempo like they did these past few games.

Also, I expect USA to tighten up the clamps.

Finally, I don't expect the Aussies to hit 16 three's, and Bogut to hit 3 like they did against Lithuania.

The under is the play, the Aussies will slow this game down, thier coach has made a career of playing defence based ball...

We'll see, I see Australia pushing the ball more than US, and they've missed so many easy shots, and US can't hit any free throws.

This game is going to go over unless we get some tight missed shots in the 3Q.

Still got +32 to rely on. Man, mens olympics is kicking my ass.

Like I said in this thread, the Over was the best play of this game. It very well may not go over, but it was easily the right side, albeit ppl like to believe the right side is always the winning side, which I disagree. Just cause a play doesn't win and you lose doesn't mean you weren't on the "right" or "smart" or"sharp" or whatever side you want to call it. This is sports and upsets or bullshit happens all the time. Anyways, stat wise, ook at U.S., 3/13 from 3's how many free throws have they missed, I guarantee you those number will go up this second half Australia must have missed at least 4-5 point blank dunks/layups already.

And if you thought Australia was going to slow this game down, you haven't been watching these Olympic basketball games and have only been following people or who knows what you are watching...

Didn't play a side, but I think you'll be ok, Australia is the best shooting team in the Olympics, so they'll stay within that number, gl to you...

As for the O/U, since you're on the opp side, hopefully the over wins, but if it doesn't, it will be a nice payout for you. :)

Yes, it would be, but I need alot of missed shots to open this 3q. I could use spots where they go 1+min without buckets.

What are your thoughts on ARG game?

I wasn't going to play it, but since i doubled up on this over, I'll put a lil action on it. I think they're evenly matched teams, although the best player is easily Ginobili. I'm going small on the Greece ml, I would lean to the over, but I'm not going to play it.
