This is hardly a "nothing bowl" for the Hurricanes. Miami has a history of being one of the better teams in college football year in and year out, yet they did not make the post-season last year. Winning this game would put the 'Canes back on the map and give them a lot of momentum going into next year.
QB Robert Marve is suspended for the game and Freshman Jacory Harris will make his second career start. He has put up some very impressive numbers for a backup QB, throwing for over 1,000 yards.
Although Miami's defense has been so-so this season, they are extremely fast and should be able to slow down Cal's rushing attack. Miami consistently gets the best recruits in the nation and will surprise Cal with their athleticism. I was on Miami at +7 when the lines first came out, and now that it is has moved three more points I see this being one of my better plays of the bowl season so far.
If Miami doesn't show up then they could definitely get blown out, but I believe that they will give Cal a very good game and could possibly come out on top.
I also like the under. Cal will run the ball and probably be successful, but will sacrifice a lot of time b/c their mediocre passing attack. Miami's offense is nothing special but should be able to match Cal's attack. It will be a slow-paced game and should total in the mid-40's.
