Why the Disdain towards those who believe in a higher power?

I understand why you feel the way you do. Things happened in your upbringing that helped you develop a hatred towards the idea of a God and towards those who believed in a God.

But why all the disdain towards God or anyone who believes in God? Why must you be so stereotypical?

Man has F-d up religion. Dont blame it on God.

There are some very great people on this Earth who do the best they can to truly make the world a better place in the name of God without pushing their beliefs or harming others.

Its too bad that 90% of those that claim to be "Christian" screw it up and arent a true representation.

If you really looked at yourself in the mirror, you would see that you really arent much different than the same people that you despise. Just on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Im not trying to make an arguement for or against the validity of Christianity here.

Sadly all discussions of religion in here disintegrate. Actually, not a great topic outside the forum either. Some people can't help but spread the word and others can't help insisting it's bunk. It's crazy to argue about because you can't prove yourself right and breathe at the same time.

I dont disagree with anything you just said.

But like I pointed out earlier, thats not the intention of this thread.

I want to understand why some people have such a disdain towards the thought of a God or towards those that believe in a God.

As far as people in America go, I don't think there is as much hatred towards Chrisitianity as you think. As far as I'm concerned there are some beautiful passages in the Bible in books like Psalms. And some good rules to live by in it. But the problem with Christianity is very few people question the bible, and follow it blindly. Even some of the whacked out passages that were obviously made up. Then those people impose their beliefs on others. This is where things get dangerous. Especially when they make their way into politics.

my disdain is because people push it on me. i still get calls weekly from the evangelical terrorists around here trying to get me to convert. people also come here bi-weekly to talk to me. its annoying. you keep your shit to yourself. i dont need religion getting into politics and into the businesses like it does across the country.

religion is for the gullible who cant make it on there own.

they always get people on the sense of belonging angle, and they play that card brilliantly.

Politics and Jesus dont mix.

Just as I wouldnt want to live in a Muslim run state, others shouldnt have to live in a Christian run state.

Ironic choice for an AV....Warner as taken quite his fair share of criticism for being a man of faith....I do admire him for it...There is definitely a disdain for people of faith that is being encouraged by the Culture Creators who sit behind Mass Media...and it is deliberate. The ultimate goal being a society that puts the State 1st and God and Family Second....It is Socialist in nature and Fascist in reality...
