This guy has already won Cups, and understands you don't win the Cup in the regular season. When the playoffs arrive he is reday to play. Look at the stats. Of course he has a great team in front of him. But he makes lots of tough stops, and arguably kept his team in the 2nd game until they got their ;legs and began to force the play.
I read posts before the series began about how the Wings ween't worth the ptice with Osgood in gial. Does anyone still believe that?

his answer was he's top 10 in wins in the playoffs and has played 15 years in the league, he must be doing something right.

What's Luongo won?

When has he ever been with a team that's capable of winning anything?
If he were on the Pens since last Thursday, the Cup series so far might
be another story. Weren't you the one so scared of him this year? Put
Osgood on the Cannots this year and they don't even make the playoffs.
Not by a mile.

agree with Bushay

Luongo of past...

Let the facts speak for themselves as far as playoff stats...

Osgood no doubt....

Luongo let in so many soft goals this playoff year it was laughable he talks smack anymore...

Osgood is perceived as "vanilla" I think and just gets it done year after year...

I would lean towards "too vanilla" as the reason...but he will hoist another cup in a few days @):)

Luongo's career is on the downslope for sure

Osgood's not as bad as the criticism he's received throughout his career, but at the same time I can't believe that there is serious talk of him getting into the HOF. This is a clear case of a guy being in the right place at the right time. He's never been a top 10 goalie, but he has not needed to be. What I don't like is that he acts so smug about it, when things are going well. There are quite a few organizations in the NHL where he would be the 3rd most valuable goalie in the system.

He's In Buck! Deal with it!

I dont understand this view that he's smug????? What do you mean by it? To me he is a very calm and matter-of-fact individual, whether the Wings are winning or losing. He takes all of the criticism (including from Wings fans) and just shrugs it off and does his job.

And he is vastly underpaid. Illitch should slip him a few million when the league is not looking.

He's replaceable half the starting goalies in the league would do just as good or better if they played for Detroit.

He has 3 cups to prove otherwise, I think he is a very clutch goalie and one a team should want in the net when it's crunch time.

He's good, but he's no Brodeur, Hasek, or Luongo. How many
wins and cups would he have if his career had been in Florida,
Buffalo, or New Jersey?

Well lets see. Luongo has no Cups and can't even get his team past the 2nd round; Hasek won no Cups in Buffalo-he had to go to Detroit to win one. As for Brodeur, not many compare to him so that's not very fair, but don't forget he had some pretty good teams in front of him. In fact, the New Jersey teams that contended for and won Cups were even more defense oriented that Detroit. Detroit has its Lidstrom but Brodeur had Scott Stevens. Not many hung around the Jersey goal when Stevens was playing D.

Aside from 3 years, his career W-L record in the playoffs has been poor,
mediocre at best. And this with consistently very good Detroit teams
in 10 of 13 years. Two of them he was not considered good enough to
even play or was injured. Including one of the years his team {not
Osgood} won the Stanley Cup. Put Roy, Dryden or Brodeur in there and
you might have had 7 or 8 cups.

Take a look at that Buffalo Sabres roster the year they made it to the cup finals. One of the weakest group of 18 skaters to ever make a cup final. What Hasek did there was nothing short of brilliant. He's still a piece of shit, but you can't take that run away from him, nor what he did to keep a financially insecure franchise afloat.

Yeah if we were gonna rate all of the goalies mentioned above, Hasek would be at the top of my list. But Buck, why do you think Osgood is smug??

Osgood is so disrespected because of his goofy looking cage, and that alone will keep him out of the Hall of Fame LOL
