Liberal (definition) – not narrow in opinion or judgement – not conservative
Conservative (definition) – disposed to maintain existing views and conditions or institutions – moderate, cautious (note it does not say “not liberal”.
Are you kidding me. Those definitions are taken from a dictionary. Liberals are definitely not conservative but their opinions are narrow to say the least. Just pick a topic and that is obvious to say the least, immigration, gun control, police/race, on and on.
Look at immigration and start with the safe havens created by liberals. That exposes that they are narrow with both opinions and judgement. In fact they are breaking the law for all to see to support their narrow opinions. Look at gun control where they look for any excuse to be in control and to over ride the constitutional rights of gun owners. Look at Baltimore and it is obvious that everyone is to blame except the liberals who control that City. You can go on and on.
Conservatives are not disposed to maintain existing views etc although they are much more moderate and cautious than liberals. Do conservatives maintain safe havens for illegals? Yet if they defend the right to bear arms they are labeled as radicals. Conservatives are mostly financially conservative and are more focused on making this country better and stronger. Liberals spend money recklessly, that is our money not theirs.
To define liberals as “not narrow in opinion or judgement” indicates that the term Liberal is a cover as much as anything else. Liberals as a whole want to control everything and have little or no tolerance for those who oppose them.
In this day and age liberals could be defined as narrow opinion and judgement and basically intolerant to those who do not agree with them. Conservatives could be defined as those who question things and are open to discussion. The fact that this dictionary inserts “not conservative” when defining a liberal and does not insert “not liberal” when defining a conservative tells you all you need to know.
If dictionaries are not providing accurate definitions that should tell you something. If you are a liberal you probably don’t get it. If you are a conservative it is obvious. I think dictionaries are a strong indicator of the direction this country has taken in recent years.

Classical Jeffersonian liberalism and modern day liberalism are a bit different in train of thought. There are many different types of political philosophies.

Yeah but why bring the definition in the dictionary into it then? What do you want it to say? Liberal - Proponent of big government solutions to any perceived problems.........While that may be true at this point in history, it is hardly the definition of the term.
The dictionary isn't supposed to give you a history lesson. Just saying what the terms loosely mean.

Today if you were to tell any random stranger you're a 'liberal', they'd think you believe in things like single payer healthcare, strict gun control and anthropogenic climate change. Jefferson would be the last thing to come to mind.
