Why does everyone love USC so much?

I am talking about the media. It is as if they fell in love with this team. USC is a good football and they are certainly good but this team is very overrated. Sure when they had Bush, Leinart, and Jarrett they were the best team but they were never that better than anyone.

This year, they have a new QB and they just play a weak schedule obviously not like Utah or Boise State but this team really is overhyped. They did blow out Ohio State at home but we all know Ohio State is a fraud just like the rest of the Big Ten. I do think they will beat Penn State pretty easily like 27-13 or so but this team just doesn't seem that impressive.

Teams like Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas are impressive teams. They all with the exception of Alabama have a superior offense and all these teams can play defense. However, OU have poor special teams and they have been giving up lots of points lately along with the longhorns.

I always hear that USC is so damn good. Well tonight they beat ND 38-3 at home but ND is horrible team. So, what is the love with USC? Is it because of their history or something? I think USC is a one of the top teams but I do not think they deserve to be in the top 3.

Also, I don't know why people say USC will be a favorite against any team on a neutral field every damn year. Sure this year they might be 1-2 point dogs against the Gators and Sooners but why does this team get so much love? Their defense is good but people say they have one of the best defense in college football. Well when you play horrible teams, of course your defense is going to look good.

Another thing I don't understand is why people say if USC played at home, NO TEAM they would be favored no matter what. Oh really? I certainly believe Florida and Oklahoma would beat USC at USC. OU and Gators are the real deal. I like the Trojans but they are one of the most overhyped teams just like Ohio State but we all know Ohio State sucks. USC is I believe the 4th best team behind Oklahoma, Florida and then Texas. I think USC would defeat Alabama though.

Why do people love them? Because they are the best team in the nation, that's why. Well, at least in my opinion they have the best team.

Best defense in the nation by a pretty wide margin, multiple four and five star recruits at every position, backups will get chance in the NFL.

Say what you will about their schedule, but SC played more teams currently in the top 10 and more teams currently in the top 20 than either Florida or Alabama.

Of course no team would be favored at SC. No team would be favored at Florida or OU either. Probably true for Texas as well, though that could be argued.

The University of Southern California has a football program that is "rich" in history and tradition (Michigan, Ohio State and yes, Notre Dame to mention a few).

Sports writters and us "ordinary fans", over the long haul, give teams like the above the "first look" because they usually won the recruiting wars, ending up up great players, hence, good teams (year in and year out over the last 80 years).

Their alumni networks were (and still are) massive; this would help in the recrujiting wars by "putting on" a lot of pressure on a "blue chip" recruit to attend the "old alma mater" anywhere in America.

Times have, and still are, changing in College football. TV, (big money) has forced schedule changes (no longer a game just on Saturday afternoons) resulting in more "kids" getting to play on TV (even on Wednesday nights). Look at the "new" programs that have arrived "big time" (Boise State and the "crazy" MAC conferance for example). They were unknowns years ago.

The "old days" are over yet teams like Michigan, Ohio State and (yes) USC always get that "extra look" from the sports writters etc. early on each year whether they deserve it or not.

Good luck with the rest of the college football season.

i am ucla alum and i really dislike usc athletics, especially this upcoming week, but are you serious? overrated? if sanchez stays next year they will have 3 quarterbacks that were the gatorade nat'l player of the year. matt cassel never even started at usc (he was behind palmer and leinart) and he just threw for consecutive 400 yard games in the nfl. if anyone is overrated, it's texas. do you think they could put up more than 24 on the usc defense? i doubt it. the only team better than usc is florida. unfortunately we will never get to see these two teams play because the voters will elect a big 12 team to play florida in the championship game in which they will blow the big 12 team out by 30. defense wins championships, and the big 12 wouldnt know defense if it slapped them in the face

Maybe because the school has won more national championships than all the rest?

They also tend to beat teams in a dominating way, especially if their opponent is ranked. Look it up. They also take on all comers in September like nobody else dares.

Seriously before you ask that kind of question you should do a little research yourself so others won't have to do it for you.
