Valid points all around but I do not see as much of a significant difference between the 2008 Rutgers Football team and the 2006 and 2007 versions. It is amazing what soft schedules can do for you.
What is ridiculous is that Rutgers actually outgained North Carolina 383-378 last week, and most of those yards were not just made up in garbage time. 0-9 on 3rd down cost the Scarlet Knights big time, especially around the red zone where they had to settle for 2 FGs early, as well as 3 Teel INT's, 2 of which directly led to 10 points for UNC and cost Rutgers a shot at 7 more themselves. The secondary has been atrocious, but I am blaming it on coaching more than anything, 6 new assistants have joined the staff and took an above-average returning secondary and made it into a disaster filled with mental mistakes and blown assignments. With that being said Rutgers has been able to move the ball against quality opponents. This team is not a whole lot different to the 2006 and 2007 versions, which shows you exactly how overrated they really were after that 2006 Louisville game. I think they comfortably beat Navy here in this spot. 34-0 at Navy in 2006, and 41-24 vs Navy in 2007, how can anyone bet on Navy in this spot? It is not like the 2008 Midshipmen have done anything themselves. They lost 35-23 to a Ball State team that Rutgers destroyed 52-30 last January. Then then lost 41-31 at Duke, who I am still not completely sold on. I know they were without Kaipo at QB, but honestly Bryant did more against RU in the final minutes in 2007 than Kaipo did all game so I don't see much of a drop off there. If Rutgers limits mistakes, they can score 30-34 here. Just my opinion, good luck guys.
