Rutgers has played 2 tough teams in Fresno and UNC and looked miserable vs both. Navy is a bad team but they can at least put points on the board which looks like a major weakness for Rutgers. They will score more vs bad Navy offense but considering they are going on the road for first time after looking miserable and expecting them to pull out of the doldrums is asking a lot imo. They are not a very good football team. Even if they do cover, I won't put my money on them anytime in the near future. I would like people to convince me this is a good bet cause I don't see it.

Kojak, been following you last year and the past couple weeks but never actually post.
I couldn't agree with you more on rutgers play. They are horrible this year. Even though i played fresno on week 1, i got burned BAD last week when Butch Davis's Tar Heels gave them a serious ass whupping. It seems that defense is wearing down by huge comparison to last year. Plus running game is pretty much gone with Rice going Pro. The special teams especially the kicking team is subpar at best. I still don't understand why they are the favorite and public seems to love em.Maybe it's time that they are due for a big win, but navy ground options attack can be really dangerous. If anything, i will probably stay away from this game until Knights can win the next two games with consistent offense.

Thanks for the winner last week...you are money on college football, always generate serious:money8::money8::money8::money8::money8:

Valid points all around but I do not see as much of a significant difference between the 2008 Rutgers Football team and the 2006 and 2007 versions. It is amazing what soft schedules can do for you.

What is ridiculous is that Rutgers actually outgained North Carolina 383-378 last week, and most of those yards were not just made up in garbage time. 0-9 on 3rd down cost the Scarlet Knights big time, especially around the red zone where they had to settle for 2 FGs early, as well as 3 Teel INT's, 2 of which directly led to 10 points for UNC and cost Rutgers a shot at 7 more themselves. The secondary has been atrocious, but I am blaming it on coaching more than anything, 6 new assistants have joined the staff and took an above-average returning secondary and made it into a disaster filled with mental mistakes and blown assignments. With that being said Rutgers has been able to move the ball against quality opponents. This team is not a whole lot different to the 2006 and 2007 versions, which shows you exactly how overrated they really were after that 2006 Louisville game. I think they comfortably beat Navy here in this spot. 34-0 at Navy in 2006, and 41-24 vs Navy in 2007, how can anyone bet on Navy in this spot? It is not like the 2008 Midshipmen have done anything themselves. They lost 35-23 to a Ball State team that Rutgers destroyed 52-30 last January. Then then lost 41-31 at Duke, who I am still not completely sold on. I know they were without Kaipo at QB, but honestly Bryant did more against RU in the final minutes in 2007 than Kaipo did all game so I don't see much of a drop off there. If Rutgers limits mistakes, they can score 30-34 here. Just my opinion, good luck guys.

I haven't seen much people on Rutgers, but they are a terrible team this year. It's not like they got blown out by USC and OU, they got beat handily by Fresno St and North Carolina. Two pretty good teams, but neither is anything special.

With that said no way I can play Navy either. They have a really bad team this year too. This game screams no play to me.

I dont like this game this week. I have watched both teams play and will agree they are both under performing.
Two bad teams playing is a tough play.

Value is on NAVY

I love Navy in this spot fellas!

I just don't see how Rutgers can stop the Navy triple option. IMO this line should be at about a pick em. I don't think Rutgers deserves to be a road favorite over anybody!

Just my 2 cents

They stop the triple option every year...not sure why this year will be different.

I personally think RU matches up well against Navy.

Will I wager on them is another story, probably not.

I just don't see how Rutgers can stop the Navy triple option.

2007: RUTGERS 41 - Navy 24
2006: Rutgers 34 - NAVY 0
2005: RUTGERS 31 - Navy 21

Not to mention about 8 or 9 of the 11 defensive starters returned from 2007. This defense knows this Navy offense hands down, and will use reserve WR Julian Hayes to act as Kaipo-Noa during practice this week. Navy usually is good in spots like this because they have the element of surprise over a team since it is hard for players who have never defended the triple-option before to prepare in a week's time. But not Rutgers. The experience is there, and they should be fine.

I'd like to state for the record in hopes of not sounding like a homer:

If Rutgers is 2-2 going into West Virginia Week 6, play ON West Virginia for anything -7 or under.

Rutgers looks mentally soft right now but if their heads are in the game how do they not score in the 40s on Navy?
At some point Rutgers is going to break out against someone.

Duke shredded the Navy defense and should of had more points on the board.

I've been going/watching Navy for 30 years...this Navy defense is HORRIBLE, and Navy has not been able to establish the fullback - even against Towson - which is absolutely key in this offense.

If anything, look at the over. But this is no longer Paul Johnson's football team and despite 9 returning starters on defense, their defense is still horrible. Their offense could keep up with just about anyone last year - but not this year.

Hard to see Navy being able to keep up - they're just not doing what made them so competitive over the last five years. Simple things like the QB doesn't follow the FB through the hole on a 4th and 1 keeper.

Rutgers stops Navy every year, and it's not like they were ever a powerhouse. They beat the bad teams they are supposed to that they are way better than.

Hello Kojak.... I always look forward to your picks. And you've won me a few $$$ over the past few years. So thanks for that.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I watched Rutgers leave a TON of points on the board against Fresno St, so going into my NC/Rutgers bet I thought, 'no way they'd do that two weeks in a row'... Well, obviously I was wrong!! Anyhow, I TOTA<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:stockticker>LLY</st1:stockticker> agree with you and also won’t put any money this team until they get their offense working up to it’s potential.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
And another thing, I kept getting pissed off during both their previous games watching coach Schiano's lackadaisical attitude. During both games the announcers continued to make statements like, "even though the <st1:place>Rutgers</st1:place> is down, Coach Schiano seems very relaxed". All I kept thinking is FUCK THAT!! Maybe he should start getting a little emotional (I know I was).<o:p></o:p>

Good Luck this weekend. (looking forward to your picks) - Rick<o:p></o:p>

I been following Rutgers since 1990

Actually had a close family member play for Doug Graber.

This really looks like a SAME OLD RUTGERS team.

The Defense could give up a TON against Navy.

And Rutgers is SUPPOSE to be winning games this year with that POTENT OFFENSE that aint even there.

If Rutgers wins its a freaking miracle. They cant even score.
