Why do some sportsbooks not advertize here or across the street?

Is it simply because they don't want to spend any money or is it that they allready have an adequate number of players or is it that they do not want any publicity due to where they are operating/funding/banking/ etc from? (see yesterday's artitle by Shrink on a bust).

What would be the top reason? Just curious.

Books gain nothing by advertising - except that whenever there is a complaint against an advertiser, the threads are deleted/moved to the RR.

Here are three reasons of which two were given to me from some sports books...

1-Too expensive

2-Too many sharpies (ludicrous if you ask me)

3-They don't know how to use the forum to maximize revenues

I think any new books advertizing for the first time would be highly suspicious to me now. There are plenty of good ones with a very few that have reputations that are spotless.

What is considered too expensive? What are the rates that could be rough on upstart or middle teir books that could use the exposure here?

Established books such as Carib, Olympic & Grande don't really need to advertise on this type of forum driven site since word of mouth is already decent mostly.

Something books need to consider..especially 2nd or 3rd tier books..

Having a banner hanging up top may not bring in the numbers you want, or the type of player you want...but I think it is great for customer RETENTION...which should be objective number 1 in this business.

the only reason it would be too expensive is because the return would not justify the risk.

why
spend X dollars to get Y players at Posting Forum A ?

when you could

spend X/2 dollars to get Y players at Posting Forum B

there are a few reasons why a book would do so, one is branding but take Carib for example; they spend $0 here and are mentioned at least every week in a post so they are being Branded for $0. hard to beat that price.

of course they could cough up some bucks to have a tiny banner up there with the 20 or so other books.

but remember the dozens of books that do advertise here make this forum possible, so a big thanks should go out to those books for donating a % of their ad budgets to supporting the forums, I'm sure they are not doing it because of the great ROI.

Bonus Whores

from what I've been told there are many prominent posters here and across the street who are big time bonus whores that abuse some nice bonus plans. Not sure if that's is tre that's just what I've been told.
