LSUpete said:Because of their lack of character....and their coach's reluctance to DO anything about it.
DE ROBERT AYERS (8/05) Got in fight with Omega Psi Phi fraternity at UT. Originally charged with aggravated assault. Prosecutors reduced the charge to misdemeanor assualt, forced to pay court costs and restitution to victim. Once paid, his record will be expunged. Fulmer suspended him for 2 games (these are NOT consecutive games, these are games Fulmer selected....vs. UAB and vs. Vanderbilt).
LB JARED MAYO (8/05) GOt in fight with Omega Psi Phi fraternity at UT. Originally charged with aggravated assault (see Robert Ayers). Prosecutors dropped all charges because 'witness did not coorperate with prosecutors'. Fulmer did not punish Mayo.
LB DANIEL BROOKS (12/04) Complaint to Knoxville PD stated Brooks had punched another UT student in the face and bloodied him. Reported to the Tennessean newspaper that up to 20 other Vols players were present at the time of the incident. Coach Fulmer said the matter was under investigation, but there were no suspensions for the SEC Championship game vs. Auburn
LB DANIEL BROOKS (part II)(Summer 05) Brooks pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license and three other charges were dismissed by a Knox County General Sessions Court judge (Driving with a suspended license, running a red light, and jaywalking). Fulmer suspended Brooks for the first 3 games of the season (vs. UAB,UF, LSU)
TONY MCDANIEL (1/1/05) Sucker-punched Deshaun Goodrich (UT student) during a pickup basketball game. He was knocked unconcious and broke several bones in his face, including his eye socket and sinus cavity. "He'll have a metal plate in his mouth the rest of his life," said Goodrich's mother. Arrested and charged with aggravated assault. No punishment as of yet.
WR BRET SMITH and QB BRENT SCHAEFFER (4/10/05) Tag-teamed a student, opening a cut on his forehead that required four staples to close in a dormitory fight. Both pled guilty to misdemeanor assault & ordered to pay restitution. Smith was suspended from the team. Schaeffer left the program voluntarily.
CB ANTWAN STEWART (5/03) Accused of raping a 16 yr old girl in the dormitory. Day after filing the report, Fulmer and his attorney met with the girl's friend who visited the dormitory with her. Reports began to surface that the apparent rapee was lying. No charges from the police. Fulmer supposedly punished Stewart for using bad judgment, but the punishment was never specified.
WR MONTRELL JONES (8/02) Charged with marijuana possession. Pled not guilty, but agreed to seek drug counseling as part of a Jefferson County (KY) diversion program. Fulmer 'punished' Jones, but the punishment was never specified. In April, 2003, Fulmer dismissed Jones from the team just two weeks after being indefinitely suspended in connection with a failed drug test. Fulmer did not expound as to why the player was dismissed, but Tennesse's athletic department policy states than an athlete failing 3 drug tests is automatically dismissed. On top of the two incidents listed above, he was suspended two other times for unspecified violations of team policy.
RB ONTERRIO SMITH Hit his daughter's mother in a domestic violence spat.
WR ERIC LOCKE (Former Bama player transferred to UT) Suspended by the university and kicked off the football team. Locke withdrew $2400 from the ATM account of another student without permission. No charges were filed. Rumors sqirled that Fulmer having illegal contact with Locke’s father while Locke still at Alabama, to Locke’s father working for a UT booster. Locke was supplied with a vehicle while playing at Tennessee. For this, Tennessee penalized itself two football scholarships. UT also banned two boosters from contributing to the athletic department for three years.
G OFEN OFENHUESL (10/00) Twice accused of 'dirty play' by an opponent and could face discipline from the Southeastern Conference. South Carolina nose guard Cleveland Pinkney accused him of diving for his left ankle from behind and later throwing an illegal chop block. Georgia defensive tackles Marcus Stroud and Richard Seymour made similar complaints a month earlier.
CHRIS BROWN (10/04) Cited for misdemeanor shoplifting at a Knoxville Mall. Brown was accussed of trying to steal a jersey.
JAMES BANKS (multiple) In 2004, cited for underage drinking and violating city's noise ordinance by Knoxville PD. In spring of 2003, he was suspended afer he was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman at the student life center. Later in 2004, Banks violated UT's substance abuse policy by attempting to taint a drug test with masking agents. He had already failed one drug test during his stay at UT.
MONDRE DICKERSON In 2004, charged with raping a 30 yr old woman. He was suspended from the Vols' the previous year after being accused of another rape. No charges were filed in that case.
REGGIE COBB Dismissed from UT for failing his 3rd drug test.
DWAYNE GOODRICH (8/02) Convicted of criminally negligent homicide after he struck and killed two good samaritans in his BMW and then drove away. The victims ahd been trying to pull out another motorist from his burning car. Goodrich was on his way home from a topless bar. Received seven years in prison.
PEYTON MANNING (1996) Subject of a sexual harassment suit (this arose again in 2003) Showed his naked buttocks to a female trainer and attempted to 'sit on her face'. The suit against him and the university was settled for $300K. In 2003, in a book, Manning claimed he had mooned another player and that the trainer had a 'vulgar mouth'. She sued again and settled, but the amount was sealed by the court.
PHILLIP FULMER (present) The graduation rate for UT football players in 1995 was 8%. Fulmer claims that this number is slanted because many players cut short their college days for the NFL. Five of the 15 UT football freshmen did indeed move on to the NFL. If the others had graduated, the rate would have been 67%. His reasoning and his math both suck.
VICTOR MCCLURE (2004) Arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on campus. Two months later he was involved in a domestic disupte where he was reported to have shoved his girlfriend into a wall.
P BRITTON COLQUITT (2004) Arrested for the 3rd time in 7 months for underage possession of alcohol. Colquitt attempted to flee police, but was apprehended. Received a misdemeanor citation.
BRANDON JOHNSON (2004) Fired a gun into the air near campus. Arrested and charged with felony reckless endangerment. His pal, defensive back Chris Heath, was charged with misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a firearm.
TEE MARTIN (2002) Former sportswriter Wayne Rowe told the Mobile Register that he wired $4,500 to Martin on behalf of insurance agent Dianne Sanford in February 1999, while Martin was still a member of the Vols. However, the NCAA enforcement staff found that neither Rowe nor Sanford was considered a booster at the time and that no one considered a booster was involved. UT received no punishment.
Come on man! How far are you going back? Reggie Cobb, that was like 1989-90 . 15 years ago - give it up
OOOOH - Peyton Manning mooned a chick in a locker room while she was meat watching. I have some pretty good sources and dug up a few demerits he got for chewing gum in class that you forgot to mention
Jarod Mayo was not the person and had many witnesses to prove it, that is why he was not punished by the law or Fulmer - He didn't do anything!
Britton Colquit was not part of the team for 2 of the incidents
Victor McClure was proven to have a chemical imbalnce that was proven by doctors. That was a health issue - no joke. I think all charges were dropped b/c that was a strange incident that was obvious something was wrong - he ended up taking all of his clothes off down at the rec center and was saying weird shit. It is a sad incident if anything.
Duane Goodrich was not a part of the Vols when that happened. The only incident here at UT was when the Rocky Top Market there on the strip wouldn't serve him Chicken wings at 3am and he started raising hell saying"do you know who I am" they called the cops.
Onterrio Smith wasn't a Vol when that happend
Fulmer did not impose the penalty b/c of a car give to Locke, there is no proof of that at all. His father Juicy Locke was the cause of most of the problems. HE was contacting Fulmer, trying to set him up
Bring on more BS spin. I will see you Sept 24 and take it out on the field. bring your A game, you're gonna need it. You will need it again in Atlanta for your rematch in the championship game
