I guess what I mean is when certain people find out that I bet sports they act different towards me. Why do gamblers get such a bad name. Is it really much different then investing in the stock market.

Have had this same type argument a lot this past month. I have my speech down pat right now. No matter how well I present my case, I think most still have plenty of doubt when they are done talking to me about it.

One thing I have learned is to be confident about it when you are telling others. It seems most people start to believe you more when you act and sound confident.

The main problem with society is they think you must have a problem if you gamble from all the bad stories they have heard and the stuff they have seen on TV.

Isn't gambling the start to bigger vices such as drugs, alcohol, and prostitutes? And then after that, registration on a gambling forum...go figure.

This isn't exactly true as these guys give us all a bad name amongst our selfs as the pillars of society would never know of a j-stiff just us degenerates.

Trying to spark a sports gambling conversation amongst co workers and so forth they look at you like you have two heads but bring up casino style gambling BJ and slots and everyone can relate and has a story to tell.

To me they have two heads as the Indians just love these idiots.

I think it's the sports part of sports gambling that people view as a social vice. Blow your paycheck on slots or a stupid lottery, that's OK - heaven forbid you bet on something at which you can win.

Then again, sports can be gamed, and more a few sleazy gents do just that. I suppose it's the degenerates that muck with what should be a fair contest that generates the negative reaction towards what we do.

If 99% lose at sports gambling & most win at stock market investing,
what do you think? Banks promote the latter, not the former.

Sports gambling is a negative sum game and, as a result, the vast majority of players lose. The stock market is a positive sum game with a much higher percentage of winners.

You're right, but one can sell short indexes and ETF's, as I do, and make money. But an account at an exchange, such as matchbook, can be just as lucritive.:smoking:

Gamblers offer nothing to society---A dam shame professional sports investors cant take college courses or serve an apprentice to learn this. You have to fail before you can start making money--and its often very expensive.

Stock Market; Aren't there as many losers in the LONG run as there are winners? Isn't it all about timing or am I way out of line here?

I disagree.....most gamblers I know are the most generous people ever...and there are courses in college around the states offering studies in sports gambling....Mr. Hand, if you don't gamble, what are you doing here?

LOL I get this at work. I walk around not all that concerned if I lose my job. They ask why are you not concerned about this. (I am concerned) I say well I will just go to the casinos and try to grind out 600 a week playing poker.

They look at me with a puzzled look. I explain to them that its the most fair game in the casino and I am confident that I can do this.
