I'm a Republican by default. I don't always agree with the Republican platform but there really is no other choice, particularly on a national level. Democrats are, by and large, lying, race-baiting, class-baiting, extremely power hungry sacks of shit who care much more about their own party than they do about their country. Democrats weren't always like this, only the past 40 years or so. But they are only getting worse.

You asked.

Take Floyd's comments, add hypocritical, self-serving, and insert the word republican for democrat and we have the reasons i am a democrat. so much for reasoned debate.

Because class warfare and socialism have no place in the USA.
I also enjoy having a military to protect our country and blow other people up.

Yeah the Republicans are the sheep. That's why every minority group constantly votes Democrat no matter the candidate or the issue.

I am a republican because I am pro death penalty, pro strong military defense, tax cuts, and against big government. Nevertheless, I also share some democrate views like bieng pro choice, pro affirmative action, and for the environment. You can say that I am a liberal Republican.

I don't think there's much difference between the two parties. The bottom line is that they are both are influenced by big business and the wealthy, and that's who I believe has always called the shots. I think that's one of America's biggest myths...that there is this big choice between Republican and Democratic parties. I know they both talk a great game, but I think you're getting the same product with either one, after all is said and done.

i am a conservative, not necessarily a republican. i am a conservative because i support the following:

lower taxes
smaller gov't
strong military
pro-business legislation
pro-life

you didn't ask but, here are some things i admire about my liberal counterparts:

concern for the poor
concern for the environment
most stands they take on civil rights

however, just because i admire the above does not mean i agree with how they try to legislate solutions to the above. nevertheless, i wish the republican party showed more concern for the poor, the environment and the citizens who are sometimes mistreated.

by the way, i will vote for george bush again in november but we have had better presidents. george is no ronald regan but the democratic alternative is just too scary.

i can't believe i'm saying this but, i'd rather have bill clinton than john kerry.

i am not saying that liberals are saints who take care of all poor people like mother theresa. but, they seem to care about them more than most convervatives. that is my point.

i am conservative and i give to charities that support impoverished children. to me, that has nothing to do with politics...its just the right thing to do. however, it seems that the liberals, in general, take up this cause more often and with greater ferver.

by the way, i think its very strange that most liberals seem to have concern for the poor and the minorities but are in favor of killing the one group of people who are the most vulnerable...the unborn children.

Why do you care? Why are you a Democrat? At the end it doesn't make a difference because we are all US citizens and patriots. That is what matters!!! It doesn't make a difference if you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or from the Green party. As long as you aim for progress, justice, prevent future terrorist attacks on US soil, and retaliation for current or future terrorist attacks.

the differences come up when progress, justice, prevention and retaliation are defined.

Judge,

What do you think of what WildBill said in his thread on why he is neither? Just curious.

True, but the very best way to do this is not to throw money at them, as most left-leaning parties do. On international poverty, we should knock down all protectionist subsidies and tarriffs (especially in agribusiness) at the expense of domestic industry who probably can't compete; on national poverty, institutionalised elitism in the guise of corporate welfare, private akademia and the like need to be abolished. We need to stop bandaging the impoverished and instead give them the tools to prevent wounds in the first place.
