Pats 3rd string D could possibly shut out SF 1st string O, esp. at home in the cold.

ppeter,

You would be right about the third string but in a lot of positions especially the secondary, they have many of their bench players starting already. To me this game is a no play but feel the backdoor could be wide open here.

I haven't read anything on this game yet. I follow the Pats and it wouldn't suprise me to see Brady & the rest play late into this game. I just seem to remember the Pats killing bad teams in the last week the past few seasons. I think the Pats play these kind of games as a tune up as apposed to resting a lot of players.

my observation anyway, I play the Pats every week.

pats

the pats almost always cover at home. They learned their lessen in Miami and will not give the 49ers a chance to even cover. Prediction 34-7

but, if they don't need the game, why would anyone give 14 points?

Two reasons. One, SF is just an awful awful team. They really can't do ANYTHING well. Second, the Pats "third string" have basically been playing anyway....one of the things about the Pats is that almost everybody has been seeing some action, particularly in the secondary. There won't be any dramatic dropoff in their play.

Being a niners fan all my life, this year has been the absolute worst. Erikson as a coach is a joke. Most of the players have lost interest and are already talking about next year. Our defense is decimated with injuries. Andre Carter (best pass rusher) Winborn & Peterson is out (speed and athleticism) and Plummer (starting cb is out). On offense it's all new personnel and injuries to our line has really hurt our running game which affects our passing game. Rookies are starting everywhere right now and it shows. Hopefully it will be good experience for next year. We're just plain bad and our owner is a knucklehead. I miss the days of DeBartolo. Anyhow even with the line at -14 I just don't see how our offense can generate offense. Rattay is still out, Dorsey is hurt and the kid out of U of Washington is just lost right now. I've been making some nice coin the last couple of weeks against my team and will do it again this weekend. At least on the bright side, we have no where to go but up. I'm praying it's not a slow climb back. Thank you for letting me rant.
