Has to be Jim Clahoun.
Great recruiter, knows the college game inside and out, great teacher, motivator, class act, never disgraces the game, and very soft spoken.

The man doesn't get enough credit.

I would have to agree with Calhoun.

I would have said Coach K or Rick Pitino a few years ago. Rick slid after he went to the NBA. Duke hasn't been a major threat in several years.

Calhoun may not have back to back type of teams, but once every 3 or 4 years, he has the favorite or one of the favs to win it all.

Also, imo, the biggest is the toughest conference year in and year out. Also, no team besides Carolina produced better talent at the next level. Duke has put a lot of guys there, but haven't done that much.

1 game, I will take Calhoun. Any other coach would have panicked vs Duke 10 when EO got 2 quick fouls. Jimmy C, new if they kept it close Gordon and EO would lead them to the win.

1999 National Title game- Duke had 4 players drafted in the top 11 and lost due to coaching.

in defense of coach k i think his recruits are always overrated because they are going to duke, kinda like notre dame recruits in football. calhoun is in the top 5, but i would put brad stevens of butler as number 1, call me crazy.

I like Jimmy in general...Never met him,But i like him :missingte

He gets the players, thats why people might say he`s a great coach

Then again, your probably right about him being a great recruiter.

But i do agree about him being a good coach..

But you can say that about quite a few coaches that are in the top 20 every single year because they get the top players...

To name a few along with Calhoun....

Of course.....

1-Duke-Mike Krzyzewski
2-Michigan St.-Tom Izzo
3-North Carolina-Roy Williams
4-Louiville-Rick Pitino
5-Memphis-John Calipari
6-Florida-Billy Donavan
7-Cuse-Jim Boeheim

All these programs above get the top players...Always

Coaches that have turned programs around...From bad to good..IMO are good coaches....

A good coach to me is a Motivater...coaches with lesser talent.

Tubby Smith as turned Minny 18-3 ranked #19 into a good team....That`s a good coach.

Kansas is a young team...Bill Self is a solid motivater...Good coach

Gonzaga...Mark Few....Good coach

Villavova....Jay Wright

Bruce Weber for Illinois is another good coach

Jamie Dixon for Pitt another guy who does a good job.

Jeff Capel will be on the list in a couple of years. Don't be surprised if you see him coaching in the ACC sooner than later.

I would like to see Griffin go up against DeJuan Blair.

I`m just going with the majority

All i hear everyday is Griffin is the best player in the country

Griffin.....22/14
Blair.....15/13

Both are solid players....No argument from me

Jay wright???? listen im a nova alum and i live and die for the program, i know them inside and out, but jay wright stinks as a coach. he gets top recruiting classes year in and year out, but none of his players actually get better. look at stokes and fisher two kids who were supposed to be cant misses, and what happened? they both are frauds.

even scottie reynolds has actually DIGRESSED. he has zero chance of making the NBA and he should have left after his freshman year because he was all hyped up and had a shot.

He still does a good job in a solid conference :toast:

Calhoun is the most overated coach in the country hands down. I have been a Uconn fan with season tickets for the past 12 yrs. I have watched Calhoun with far superior talent loose to teams that he should have blown out. Calhoun is a great recruiter and the way he caochs brings top level talent in. Uconn is a great place to showcase their skills. Yes uconn looked great against louisville...why because loiusville tried to press the huskies probably the dumbest thing they could have done.

Blake griffin is absolutely the best player in the country...there is no reason to even start an argument on this subject...I always knew he was extremely athletic but I never knew he was as big as he is. You always see guys that are 6'10" and 250, but never guys that are athletic and capable as he is!
